COMMUNITY GAMES
The area entry forms will be distributed in the local primary schools this week. Students attending schools outside the parish are asked to contact area secretary Connie Barrins immediately for their forms. In order to be eligible to compete in any Community Games event, all competitors and a parent or guardian must sign the entry form. Closing date for receipt of entries is no later than Friday, February 2.

Membership rates for 2018 remain the same as 2017: Senior Player €90, Non-playing couple €100, senior member €60, Juvenile €50 (€20 for each juvenile member after first two children), under-six €20 and hall of Fame Free. Lip Sync is on February 24 in the Great National Hotel in Ballina, so we expect participants to be looking for support of their fundraisers in the coming weeks. Groups have been forming for the last two weeks and will be practising and putting their routines in place for February 24 the participants will also be fundraising towards the event and we hope you can help them out. 10.30 at pitch. Race starts at midday. Entry fees €10 for adults, €5 for children and €25 for a family. Changing and shower facilities available. Refreshments afterwards. Prizes include: First three men, first three women, first local man, first local woman, first Secondary and first National School runner.
COMMUNITY PARK DRAW
The Community Park lotto draw for January took place in Brennan’s on Saturday night. There was no winner of the €1,400 jackpot. The numbers drawn were 1, 5, 9 and 10, there were six match-three winners. They were Martin and Patrica Gavigan, Pádraig and Diarmuid Cully, Brendan Wynne, Michael and Margaret Lawrence, Maura Henry and Paddy O’Hara. Next month’s jackpot is €1,500, tickets can still be purchased from any committee member. Many thanks for your continued and generous support.
‘CUPID WORE SKIRTS’
Rehearsals are in full swing at present for this year’s production of ‘Cupid Wore Skirts’ by the Cloonacool Players. This is a hilarious three-act comedy written by that great northern playwright Sam Cree. It will be performed in Cloonacool Community Centre on February 9, 10 and 11, followed by dates in the Hawks Well Theatre Sligo, Ballina Arts Centre, St Brigid’s Hall Tubbercurry and Ballintogher Community Centre.
