ENNISCRONE-KILGLASS GAA
DINNER DANCE – We will have an All-Star line-up for our annual dinner dance on Saturday, February 10, in the Diamond Coast Hotel. The club is very pleased to confirm that Hurler of the Year, Galway’s Joe Canning, and Tyrone football legend Peter Canavan will both be in attendance on the night as our special guests. The night will also involve several presentations to successful teams and our usual individual awards. Tickets will be available shortly from the usual outlets.
AGM – Our AGM will take place on Friday, February 2, at 8 p.m. in the clubhouse.
Joe McManus RIP – The club was greatly saddened this week at the passing of one of our greatest stalwarts, Joe McManus. Since arriving in Enniscrone in the 1960s as Garda Sergeant, Joe was a truly dedicated clubman and contributed enormously to the GAA in our parish and at county level also as a member of the Sligo County Board for many years. The esteem in which Joe was held was illustrated in the size of our club guard of honour on Wednesday evening, and again on Thursday morning. Club colours draped the coffin as Joe was brought to his final resting place in St Patrick’s Cemetery. The club extends its deepest sympathy to the McManus family. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.
FBD League – Unfortunately the FBD League meeting of Sligo and Mayo had to be moved from Quigabar to Ballina last Sunday morning after torrential overnight rain made our pitch unplayable. While disappointing, it was the correct decision in light of the dangerous underfoot conditions. Nonetheless thanks to all who had helped us prepare for the game..
LADIES’ FOOTBALL
Gaelic 4 Mothers And Others will continue every Wednesday evening at 8.30 p.m. in the astroturf facility in Quigabar. The new initiative began last October with over 30 ladies participating each week.
It is an opportunity for ladies to play Gaelic Football in a fun, non-competitive and social environment. No Gaelic Football experience is necessary. Skills and rules are taught during training. New members are always welcome. Please contact Róisín at 087 1313087 for more information.
We will also be hosting a Cake Sale on Sunday, February 4, at 11 a.m. in McNulty’s Bar and would be very grateful for all your support.
