Ougham Anna among the winners at annual coursing competition
THE annual coursing meeting hosted by the local Tubbercurry & District Club was very successful.
It was hosted in conjunction with the Kilcreevin, Ballymote and Ballymena clubs.
The top trainers, owners and breeders from across Ireland were represented and the competition was intense for honours.
There were 180 greyhounds competing in the 11 stakes for the prizemoney on offer of €15,985.00.
The Judge was Mr. Bernard Goold from Cashel Co.Tipperary and the Slipper Mr. Richie Quinn from Clarina Co. Limerick.
The voluntary committee members hard work in preparation was rewarded as proceedings received excellent reviews from the followers of the leash. Some had travelled from the USA and Wales made the journey to the famous stretch in the Tubbertelly Coursing grounds. Luke Kilcoyne Tubbercurry owned and trained ‘Ougham Anna’ to win the Tom Stenson Cup.
The Plunkett Foye Stake was divided between Ballyhaunis Co Mayo owner John Collins with his dog ‘Brickhill Davy’ and Martin Keane and Albert Long from Co. Clare and their dog ‘Statute Barred’ . The Gannon Cup went to Roscommon owner Gerald Quigley when ‘Creevy Cand’ ran out the winner.
