MacManus on SF executive
COUNCILLOR Chris MacManus has been elected to Sinn Féin’s Ard Comhairle (National Executive) as the party prepares for a significant change of leadership at a Special Ard Fhéis in Dublin this weekend.
MacManus will sit on the forty-strong body after being elected to represent the Midlands-Northwest Constituency at its Regional AGM in Monaghan last weekend. Cllr. MacManus said:
“It is an exciting time to join the Sinn Féin national leadership team. This weekend we elect Mary Lou McDonald as the President of the party as we begin our plan for the regeneration and renewal of our party.
“It is essential if we are to continue to grow electorally and organisationally that we ensure the necessary generational change within the party leadership.
“I’m delighted to have been elected by the membership across the region to play a role in this new phase of Republican politics.
“Unlike other political parties which are dominated by their respective parliamentary groups, Sinn Féin’s policy and direction is determined by our broad membership. The Ard Comhairle, which is elected by our members, plays a central role in all such matters.”
