No new site found in Lavagh for burial ground
No new burial site has been found by the Council to serve as a new cemetery in the Lavagh area.
Councillor Jerry Lundy asked for a new site as the current burial ground in Court Abbey, Lavagh is almost full. He said there was an area over-grown near the back of the church, which might serve as an interim solution.
Senior Engineer Tom Brennan said if there was space there an archaeological survey would have to be carried out.
Cllr Lundy was supported by Councillor Margaret Gormley who said funding should be sought from the Government to carry out such a survey.
