Coastal erosion

THE entire coast of Sligo is currently being assessed and costed for repairs after the winter storms.

Councillor Joe Queenan had asked what funding has been applied for regarding coastal erosion projects in West Sligo this year.

Senior Engineer Tom Brennan told Cllr Queenan that each part of the coast damaged by storms had to be assessed and costed but agreed the amount of funding was small. “Easkey pier was damaged and Strandhill is under pressure,” he said.
