DNA matched that found in pharmacy
A 27-year-old man who broke into Ballisodare Pharmacy in the early hours and stole a box of tablets was subsequently charged after his DNA matched that from blood left on cut class at the scene.
Jamie Farrell of Glendallon, Ballytivnan, was charged with burglary from Ballisodare Pharmacy on December 13th 2014. Defending solicitor Mr Gerard McGovern said his client was pleading guilty.
Inspector Paul Kilcoyne said at 12:35am the defendant entered the pharmacy by smashing a window with a lump-hammer. He put a box of tablets into a bag he was carrying. Farrell cut himself on glass and when he was arrested his DNA matched. Mr McGovern said it goes back a considerable time and his client had been in custody a number of years, he will not be out until March 2020.
He had been getting help in prison to stay away from drugs, he added. Judge Kilrane imposed a one month jail term.
