CUMANN NA MBUSCOL

THE annual Cumann na mBunscol table quiz will take place in the Teeling Centre, Collooney on Tuesday 27th February at 7.00pm. Each school may send two teams of four, €10 per team.

The Allianz Cumann na mBunscol Indoor Hurling Finals are scheduled for Sunday 4th March at 11am in the Teeling Centre, Collooney. Every school will have received their group details and are encouraged to play their games as soon as possible. Round 1 should be completed by February 9th.

This is a reminder that Coolera-Strandhill GAA Club member registrati­on is now open online for the 2018 season. Access is through the club website on www. coolerastr­andhill.com and by clicking on the green link. Team managers will not be responsibl­e for accepting membership fees this year. Members who have been paying by direct debit may continue to do so if they wish, or they can opt for on-line registrati­on. If you want to register and cannot remember your password, please click the “Reset Password” button and follow the steps. We ask that you register as soon as possible so as to reduce the significan­t burden of managing this process on the club registrar and committee. Indoor Nursery Programme Please note that the start date for the Under 5-8 Indoor programme is now FRIDAY MARCH 2nd in the Ursuline College gym from 6.00-7.00.

Annual Club Social Please note that the date for our annual Club Social is now Saturday March 24th in Coolera House. Food will be served at 9.00pm sharp and will be followed by the presentati­on of medals to our Senior Men and Junior Ladies and the announceme­nt of the Club Person of the Year. This was a very enjoyable night last year and we hope that a large crowd will attend to honour the achievemen­ts of our adult teams. Tickets will be on sale this week. Any enquiries to Frank O’ Sullivan PRO check our website and Facebook page for updates. Junior Ladies Training Training for junior ladies continues on Sunday from 12.001.30pm. New members are always welcome, so please feel free to spread the word or bring a friend. Training may be on the astro pitch, depending on weather, so please bring suitable footwear.

St. Patrick’s Day Parade Following the success of our first venture into the St. Patrick’s Day parade last year, the Bord na nÓg committee has decided to participat­e again this year. We hope to have a large number of children taking part, representi­ng all ages and codes.

DRUMCLIFFE/ROSSES POINT

SIGERSON Cup CONGRATS to our senior club footballer Jamie Gillen who is part of the UCD Sigerson Cup panel which has reached the semi-finals of the premier third level Gaelic football competitio­n last week after victory over DCU. They play their semi-final this week.

U16 Footballer­s TRAINING for the boys U16 footballer­s starts next Sunday at 7pm in Sligo Tennis Club. Indoor training session will last from 7 to 8:30pm. Each player should bring €2, water and gumshield. DATES for your diary

CLUB Registrati­ons sessions for 2018 will take place in Oxfield on Saturday, February 24th, from 1012:30pm; and in Rosses Point on Wednesday (evening) Feb 28th. At Scoil Réalt na Mara from 7:15pm to 9:15pm.

OUR GAA nursery for 2018 will start on Saturday March 3rd. The nursery is open to boys and girls aged 4-10 years. More details soon.

CLUB Sligo

THE County Cumann Na mBun Scoil Finals were played at Collooney Handball Court recently. CLUB members Colin Finn,Senan Fallon,Joesph Kielty,Kieran Connolly and Senan Sheehan represente­d Scoil Mhuire Gan Smal and Culfadda National schools. COLIN Finn was defeated in the final of Boys Under11 Singles by Aidan McNulty Rathcornma­c N.S. SENAN Fallon and Joesph Kielty were defeated in the first round of Boys Under 13 Singles. KIERAN Connolly and Senan Sheehan were defeated in the first round of Boys Under 11 Doubles. WELL done to all players who competed.

OUR Dinner Dance was a fantastic success at the Diamond Coast Hotel last Saturday night. With special guests Joe Canning and Peter Canavan providing excellent entertainm­ent, the large crowd in attendance had a most enjoyable evening. Congratula­tions to our individual award winners on the night: Hall of Fame inductee was Gerry Boland, Club Person of the Year was Billy Varley while Donal Mullaney received the Player of the Year award. Congratula­tions too to our U-16s and the Intermedia­te team on receiving their medals for their 2017 successes. The club also presented Marty Duffy with a special award to mark his retirement from refereeing after a highly successful career. A special thanks to our guests Joe Canning and Peter Canavan for their attendance; both are true gentlemen and were very accessible to young and old on the night for pictures and a chat. AND so Tubbercurr­y GAA Park developmen­t Exec are in full swing with OskaRs mania taking hold. THEY kick off their fundraisin­g with a car wash in McSorley’s Centra forecourt on the 24th of February from 10am to 4pm.

NEXT up will be a social dance in The Mayqueen on Saturday the 10th of March where you can dance the night away to Caroline McLoughlin and band. EASTER Camp. CALLING all boys and girls from 6 years up to 14 years old in the South Sligo area. Tubber seniors are running a fun Easter camp on March 26th,27th and 28th from 10-2:30pm in Kilcoyne Park. A great way to kick off your Easter holidays. MARCH 4th at 3pm in Ballymote Loftus Hall Ballymote GAA will host a Monster Auction. All household items, furniture, sports equipment, bales of silage and hopefully a young calf will be up for Auction. This will be an enjoyable afternoon with a Cake Sale, tea and coffee available. Under-12 training at Bunninadde­n Community Centre is under way from 7 to 8 on Tuesday evenings. Under 14 and Under 16 training is on at 7:15 in St.Nathy’s Hall, Mullinabre­ena. THE club wishes to express our deepest sympathies to the Gormalley family on the recent death of their mother Margeret Gormalley.
