THE Trim 10 Miler was a race that attracted over 1300 runners, 50 of whom ran sub 60 minutes. Amongst those was Sligo AC’s Damien Kennedy who finished in a fine 59:10.

Gerry Gilmartin also ran well to cross the line in 64:45. Well done also to Shiny Steve Gilgan who was paced by Seamus Somers and he came home in 1:13:30, a new PB.

John Treacy Dungarvan 10 Mile Emmett Dunleavy claimed his second Sligo AC club Record in the John Treacy 10 Mile held in ideal running conditions.

The previous Sunday Emmett broke the 5 Mile record and 7 days later he rewrote the record books again.

The race was extremely quick with Emmett posting a 4.47 opening mile as a group of 3, including Clonmel AC’s Kevin Maunsell and Clonliffe Harriers David Flynn, broke away.

Emmett continued the hot pace and went through the 10K mark in 30.49 which was actually a 1 second PB.

Despite stitching at 8 mile, Emmett recovered and he finished strongly in 3rd place in a new Sligo AC Record of 50:04.

The Race was won by Kevin Maunsell (who finished 22nd in the European Cross Country ) in 49:27 with David Flynn second in 49:47.

Conditions were dry and calm in the Cloonacool 5K in which North Sligo’s Desie Foley claimed victory in 16:48.

Sligo AC’s Sara Jane Boyce was the Female winner in 20:40.

Sligo AC were well represente­d in the race on an out and back course that had 142 participan­ts.

Karl Boyce was the first Sligo AC runner home in 19:21 giving him 8th overall.

Father and son Jack and Rory Connor finished in 19:33 and 19:34 respective­ly while Eoin Carty was 20:27.

There were good runs also by Enda Gilmartin 21:22, Kieran Dowd 21:41, Brendan McCarrick 21:55, Noreen Joyce 23:00,Daragh Sherwin 23:08, Eva Delahunt 23:09, Enda Whelan 23:11, Tara Carty 23:35, Allan Smyth 23:37, Hugh McGowan 23:40, Liam Carty 23:59, Emma Wimsey 24:40, Aimee Smyth 24:30, John Barry 24:34 and Kayla McGowan 24:55.
