RECYCLING EVENT

A Parent Associatio­n’s ‘Love Your Environmen­t’ Recycling Event will take place in Coolbock NS on Monday, February 19, at 7 p.m. Recycling Ambassador, Imelda Ryan-Jones will deliver an interactiv­e workshop on recycling. Adults and children are welcome to attend, as this event supports the Green-Schools programme.

SOOEY NS ENROLMENT

Parents and children wishing to enrol in Sooey National School for September 2018 are invited to visit the school on Friday, February 23, from 2.15 p.m. to 3 p.m. This will give the children an opportunit­y to meet their fellow pupils and the teachers in the school. DRAIOCHT IN CONCERT

Michael Rooney and June McCormack (Draiocht) in concert on Saturday, February 24, at 8 p.m. in the Church of the Assumption, Sooey in aid of Coola Post Primary Astro Facility. Annual table quiz hosted by Castledarg­an Ladies Golf Club in associatio­n with STOMA Support Group will be held on Friday, February 23, at 8.30 p.m. in Castledarg­an Hotel. Everyone welcome. Keep the date free.

COMMUNITY GAMES

Riverstown Community Games Model-making competitio­n will take place in Sooey Hall on Sunday, February 25, at 3 p.m. Swimming will take place in Sligo Sports Complex at on Saturday, March 3, at 6 p.m. Swimmers should be pool-side at 5.45 p.m. For further informatio­n on any Community Games event call 086 8258525.

Well done to all the children who took part in the local draughts competitio­n. In under-10 mixed draughts first place went to Miceal Garry, joint second place went to Lilia Williams and Harry Brehony, joint third place was Clodagh Galvin and Patrick Ryan-Jones. In the under-12 competitio­n first place went to Jack Brehony and Ciara Gilligan, joint second place went to Steven Smith and Aoibhinn Conlon, joint third went to Liam Flaherty and Cara Tighe. Best of luck to both teams as they go on to represent Riverstown at county finals in Dromore West on Sunday, March 4, at 11 a.m.

RIVERSTOWN PARADE

At a recent St Patrick’s Day parade committee meeting, it is decided not to host a parade this year. The committee would like to thank everyone for their support over the last two years and hope to see you again in the future.

DINNER DANCE

Shamrock Gaels will be holding their 2018 dinner dance will be held on Saturday, March 24, in the Clayton Hotel.
