ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

The annual General meeting of Belt Torc Co Ltd, was held in Moylough Arts and Heritage Centre on Thursday night, February 1. Reports on activities for 2017 proved positive with annual income from rent and fundraisin­g exceeding outgoings by €360. A statement of accounts will be made available to the community along with a yearly plan for 2018.

The highlight was an exhibition of photograph­s and memorabili­a supported by Sligo Co.County community and voluntary grants which can be repeated next year. Directors were re-appointed and new members were elected to sub committees responsibl­e for social media, fundraisin­g, activities for children and youth.

Social events for the benefit of the community such as the very popular Sligo Friendly Call Service which is based here at the centre,(phone no 087 7468294) rural isolation and loneliness can be experience­d by many members of the community.

A programme of events will be drawn up at a general meeting planned for Thursday night, February 22, when sub committees will report on their research and discussion. New members and ideas are always welcome.

25 CARD GAMES

Weekly 25 card games are proving very popular. Recent winners for week dated January 31 John Browne eight games, Runner-up Paul Flannery seven games. Feb7th winners with six games each were Liz Walsh, John Brennan, Michael Devaney. Single hands progressiv­e games continue on Wednesday nights at 8.30 p.m.

Prayers and sympathy for the happy repose of the soul of Philomena McCooey, New York and late of Broher, sister of Eileen Murphy, Sandyhill and of Billy Colleran, Broher. RIP.
