POST OFFICE

As a result of the present Post Master in Easkey post office retiring at the end of March 2018, An Post will be considerin­g the future post office service provision at Easkey and this could mean the permanent closure of the office.

However, before An Post takes any decision, interested parties who wish to do so, are invited to communicat­e their views on this matter. These letters have to be submitted no later than February 23. Letters should be sent to Peter Gillespie, Retail Operations Manager, An Post, Wine Street, Sligo or email peter.gillespie@ anpost.ie.

KILLEENDUF­F NS

Killeenduf­f National School are now accepting enrolments for September. Forms are available from the school. There will be an open week from Tuesday, February 13 to Wednesday 14 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. when parents can go in and see the facilities and meet the teachers. EOGHAN RUA LADIES

Eoghan Rua Ladies’ football club wish to thank all who attended the annual Awards night in the Diamond Coast Hotel on February 3. Medals were presented to under-10s, under-12 and under-14 teams who were success- ful in winning titles in 2017. Young Player of the year was awarded to Ellen Kilcawley, senior player of the year went to Geraldine Ruane while Rachel Foody won Most Committed Player for 2017. Very special thanks to special guest on the night Mayo Ladies All Star Aileen Gilroy and the Diamond Coast Hotel for providing the venue and their continued support.

SCÓR COUNTY FINALS

The Scór Sinsear County Finals will take place on Saturday, March 3, in Kilmacowen Hall. The quiz will start at 7 p.m. and the rest of the competitio­ns will follow on at 8.30 p.m. Anyone interested in taking part contact a member of their GAA club. Competitio­ns will be held in – Figure/Céilí Dancing, Solo Singing, Recitation/ Storytelli­ng, Instrument­al Music, Léiriú Stáitse, Ballad Group, and set dancing.

5K AND 10K RUN

Easkey Castle annual 5K and 10K run will be held on Sunday, April 29, this year.

ADULT EDUCATION

Classes in Welding are starting in Coláiste Iascaigh on Tuesday, February 20, at 7 p.m. Please contact the school at 096 49021 if you are interested in taking part. Cost is €132 including materials.

FUNDRAISER DANCE

There was no winner of the jackpot in the Easkey lotto draw on February 2. Numbers drawn29 30 34 35. €25 winners: Aoife Clarke, Conlon Clan, Marty Duffy, Matt Leonard and Willie Brady. Promoter’s prize Michael Weir. Next jackpot €1,600 and the draw will take place at the bingo in the community centre at 8.30 on Friday night. There will be a monster bingo in the Diamond Coast Hotel on Sunday, February 25, at 3 p.m.

BRIDGE CLUB

The Enniscrone Social Bridge club is run each Wednesday in the Diamond Coast Hotel. Bridge commences at 7.45 p.m. The first round for the Martin Freeman Trophy was held and we had a huge turn out. A draw took place for Partners and interestin­g hands were bid and played. Our second round will take place next Wednesday and the results and presentati­on will be held on February 21.

ST JOSEPH’S NS

Pupils, teacher and staff at St Joseph’s NS, Culleens, Co Sligo would like to thank all the grandparen­ts who attended the Mass and stayed to tea and cakes afterwards. They were all presented with St Bridget’s Crosses made by the pupils; we hope they enjoyed the occasion.

There was no winner of the €2,400 jackpot when the draw took place in the Ocean Sands Hotel on Saturday last. Numbers drawn were 2, 14 and 36. WALKING CLUB

The Walk this week Saturday, February 17, is Larganmore. The level is moderate and the terrain is road and mountain track and the length is three to four hours.

ENNISCRONE-KILGLASS GAA

DINNER DANCE – We will hold our much-anticipate­d dinner dance in the Diamond Coast Hotel next Saturday, February 10, at 8 p.m. Special guests Hurler of the Year Joe Canning and former Tyrone all-Ireland winner Peter Canavan. Tickets are on sale in Sheridan’s Kilglass, Queenan’s Checkout Enniscrone or from any committee member. Don’t miss what promises to be an excellent evening in the company of some famous guests.

CLUB AGM – Our club AGM was very well-attended in the astroturf complex at Quigabar last Friday. After a very busy year of developmen­t for the club in 2017, both the chairman’s report and secretary’s report documented the major progress of the past year. Both also extended sympathy to any bereaved families during the year, particular­ly noting the sad passing of club stalwart Joe McManus in January. Treasurer Eugene Nelson presented the club’s financial position, which was most encouragin­g as we head into another season. Thanks were also extended to Francie Gallagher, who vacated his roles as vice-chair and blotto coordinato­r.
