New health centre is handed over to HSE
The HSE has confirmed that Ballymote’s newly built Primary Care Centre has been handed over to their ownership now with work completed.
In a statement, the HSE said: “Ballymote PCC has been handed over to the HSE, the opening date has not been confirmed, commissioning and staff training is underway at present.”
Councillor Keith Henry, Vice-Chair of the HSE West Health Forum is awaiting the next meeting of the forum to obtain more information.
“I’ve questions down at the next Health Forum meeting about what services have been recruited in or have expressed interest in locating there apart from the already announced ones.
“A lot of people living in the locality have been in contact with me regarding the road going to the Community Park which has deteriorated as a result of the construction which I’m hoping the HSE will repair as it’s used very often as a walkway,” he said.
The new Primary Care Centre will provide a full range of primary care services.
Services that will be offered at the new centre in Ballymote include GP services, public health nursing, occupations therapy, physioptherapy, dental, podiatry, psychological services and speech and language therapy.
The centre will also have a mental health facility which will provide for the needs of those living in South and West Sligo.
It will be open five days a week with some weekend and evening openings.
