A popular branch of Centra in the heart of Sligo has undergone a major revamp which has seen it grow in size and diversify its offering. Des and Martha Cosgrove opened the Centra store in Maugheraboy in 2004, Des said the expansion was necessary to ensure their outlet continued to thrive. The new store now boasts a gourmet deli counter, a new hot carvery sandwich offering, a wings & ribs bar, as well as contemporary salad bar ‘ The Green Kitchen” ’and a soup dock. The new store also sees the addition of supervised express checkouts which reduces wait times and allows for a speedy checkout for customers who are in a hurry.

“Customer reactions to the newly revamped store is very positive,” said Des. “They love the new look store and our welcoming environment. We aim to transform our shopper’s experience, becoming a destination store in Sligo for great food and convenient shopping,” he added. Des currently employs 42 people and has taken on an additional eight staff members making that figure 50 as a result of the newly revamped shop.

Fundraising for local charities is something that Cosgrove’s have done in abundance over the last 13 years. Tens of thousands of charitable monies have been raised for local charities and helping to support funding for local teams such as St. Mary’s GAA, Sligo Rovers, Sligo Rugby Club and many more. Most recently, over €4000 was raised for Sligo Cancer Support. The launch of the new shop will take place on Saturday, February 24 th.Des and the staff at Cosgrove’s Centra would like to invite you and your family to the store to celebrate the grand unveiling. There will be Live Music, free samples and lots of giveaways. Ocean FM will also be broadcasting live from the store.
