Man admits having €10k worth of cannabis
A young man will be sentenced at the next sittings of Sligo Circuit Court in May after he pleaded guilty to having €10,000 worth of cannabis for sale or supply.
Glen McDermott, of Knappaghmore, Second Sea Road, Sligo admitted the offence at last week’s sitting of the court.
The defendant had the drug at Stephen Street on November 8th 2016.
McDermott was represented by Mr Keith O’Grady BL instructed by Mr Tom MacSharry, solicitor.
Mr O’Grady said it was not a small quantity of drugs and while the defendant had the benefit of the probation service in the past he believed he would benefit from further interaction prior to sentencing.
Judge Keenan Johnson adjourned sentencing to the next sittings of the court commencing on May 29 th. He remanded the defendant on bail and ordered that a probation report be prepared.
The Judge granted a destruction order in respect of the cannabis following an application from Ms Dara Foynes BL (prosecuting) with State Solicitor, Ms Elisa McHugh.
