MONSTER Auction will take place March 4th at 3pm in Loftus Hall, Ballymote. All household items, furniture, DVD’s, sport equipment, restaurant and hotel vouchers are on auction. Loftus Hall will be open on Saturday from 4-6pm to facilitate drop off of items. U 11/12 training continues Tuesday 8-9pm in Colaiste Mhuire school gym. U 14 training is on Fridays at 8-9pm in Colaiste Mhuire school gym and U 8/10 training is on Fridays 5.45-6.45pm same venue. REGISTRATI­ON of players is currently in progress. All players need to be registered by March 31st. INTERMEDIA­TE team have returned to training and we wish players and new manager Paul O Grady and trainer Des Leonard best of luck for 2018. ON this Tuesday Evening Cormac Finn travels to Moycullen Handball Club to play David Donoghue (Galway) in the Connacht Final of the Boys Under 15 Singles. KEVIN Meehan was recently defeated in the Connacht Semi Fnal of the Over 35B Singles at Collooney Court by Glen Walsh (Roscommon) 21 18 21 12. THE County Under 11 Boys Singles Finals will be played at Collooney Handball Court this Friday evenng commencing at 6.00 pm. LAURA Finn recently defeated Laura Keaver (Collooney) in the Ladies Junior B County Final. SHE went on to defeat Laura Mannion (Roscommon) in the Connacht Semi Final but was defeated in the Connacht Final at the newly refurbishe­d Claremorri­s court by Eimear Ni Bhiada (Galway)2 games to nil.

COLLOONEY HANDBALL

BINGO takes place this Thursday at 9 p.m , the jackpot is €5,850 in 42 numbers . UNDERAGE handball has resumed on Saturday mornings at 11 am.

CLOONACOOL

THE club are running a clothes collection on the weekends of February 23rd to 25th and also March 2nd to 4th. All clothes donations can be dropped off at the community park on Friday from 8 to 9 pm on Saturday from 3 to 4 pm and on Sunday from 11.30 to 12.30 pm on either weekend. All proceeds will go towards the purchase of new sets of jerseys for our underage teams, and also for the buying of a new set of underage goals posts. Please support. Congratula­tions are extended to senior player Pakie McIntyre and Sarah Maye who celebrated their wedding last weekend. Senior team training continues in the community park at the usual times in preparatio­n for the new season.

COOLANEY/MULLINABRE­ENA

WELL done to our club player Nathan Mullen, who was part of the NUIG senior football panel who contested the Sigerson Cup final on Saturday last. Unfortunat­ely the result went against the Galway college, who lost to a star studded UCD team.

CLUB Lotto tickets are on sale at the moment from the usual sellers. This is a vital fundraiser for our club each year, and your support for it is appreciate­d greatly.

Please contact any of the club’s committee member if interested in acquiring on of these signs for your business. TRAINING for our Under-6/8/10’s continues each Saturday morning, starting from 9am in the Teeling Centre, Collooney. UNDER-12 training at Bunninadde­n Community Centre is under way from 7 to 8 on Tuesday evenings.

UNDER 14 and Under 16 training is on at 7:15 in St.Nathy’s Hall, Mullinabre­ena.

ANNUAL Club Social

OUR annual Club Social takes place on Saturday March 24th in Coolera House. Food will be served at 9.00pm sharp and will be followed by the presentati­on of medals to our Senior Men and Junior Ladies and the announceme­nt of the Club Person of the Year. This was a very enjoyable night last year and we hope that a large crowd will attend to honour the achievemen­ts of our adult teams. Tickets will be on sale this week. Patrick’s Day Parade FOLLOWING the success of our first venture into the St. Patrick’s Day parade last year, the Bord na nÓg committee has decided to participat­e again this year. AS the competitio­ns wind down on the field in the county, attention is now turning to GAA matters off the pitch. This is a special Winter season for Sligo GAA and its Scór Committee as we host the All Ireland Finals at Scór Sinsir which takes place on March 3rd. THE club are looking for anyone interested in dancing, solo singing, ballad group, instrutmme­ntal music, recitation, novelty act, etc, to take part. CLUB News

WELL done to all those who collected medal in the Parish Hall in Collooney on Sunday evening last. A massive thank you to Sligo Senior footballer Ross Donovan and Mayo Senior ladies footballer Martha Carter who presented the medals to our successful underage team from the past year. Also a huge thank you to everyone who provided refreshmen­ts for the occasion.

THE club will begin its nursery programme for u-6’s will start in March. Further details to be announced in the coming days. THE Lotto draw took place in Connolly’s Bar on Monday 19th February with a jackpot of €8,500 up for grabs. Details of the draw can be found on the club facebook page with the next draw taking place in the Owenmore Inn on Monday March 5th. SHAMROCK GAELS

PREPARATIO­NS are well underway for the London trip to see Sligo V London in the 1st round of the Connacht Championsh­ip. The trip will be an all inclusive package including flights, hotel and transfers from the airport and to the match on Sunday 6th May. We plan to fly from Knock Airport on Friday morning 4th May to Stansted and rooms have been reserved at the Clayton Hotel in Chiswick. The flight will return on Monday 7th to Knock. THE lotto draw is in Tommy Macs this Saturday 24th February with the jackpot at €3,100.

THE club’s dinner dance takes place in the Clayton Hotel on Friday 6th April at which medals will be presented to the U21 Championsh­ip winning team. Reserve the date in your diary. THE club wish to express sympathy with John Joe and Katie McGoldrick on the recent death in England of their sister Theresa Clune.

ST. FARNAN’S

TRAINING for our Blue and White Fight Night has commenced and the boxers involved will also be holding various fundraisin­g events in the next few weeks. Stephen Feeney and Cormac Mc Gowan got their fundraisin­g off to a great start with a Car Wash on Saturday. Thanks to Blair Feeney for hosting the event. Oisin Connolly will also have a Car Wash on March 3rd .Niall Culkin and Eunan Curran are planning a “Slave/Date Auction” in the Still Bar on March 2nd. PLEASE support the boxers who are holding events. REMINDER that membership fees are due and should be paid before the season commences. Our nursery programme for 4-10 year olds will begin on March 2nd. Cost of registrati­on for this age group is €20 . Training will be on the Astro Turf from 7.30-8.30pm with €2 charge per session.

WELL done to Niall Culkin, winner of €206 in the 50/50 draw. The next draw is on Sunday, February 25th. SLIGO played host to the All Ireland Scór na nÓg Final on Saturday. Roisin Kilgannon had the honour of singing the National Anthem at the event. Roisin is no stranger to Scór, having represente­d the club on many occasions at both Scór na nÓg and Senior Scór at county, provincial and national level. St. Farnan’s had a number of volunteers helping at the event, including Sean Kilgannon who is a member of Sligo Scór committee. Jason Mc Guinness was the adjudicato­r for the instrument­al music competitio­n. Congratula­tions to all involved in making the event a very successful one. ATTENTION now turns to senior Scór. The Sligo final is on March 3rd and competitor­s are required to represent the club. If interested please contact Sean Kilgannon. HUGE congratula­tions to Patrick O’Connor who became the first St. Farnan’s player to win a Sigerson Cup medal. Patrick was a member of the successful UCD team which defeated NUIG in the final on Saturday. This is a fantastic achievemen­t for Patrick and one of which the club is very proud. HARD luck to Patrick O’Connor,Finnian Cawley, Eamonn Kilgannon and Sligo on their defeat to Fermanagh. We wish them better luck next weekend. Good luck also to James Weir and Sligo hurlers. CONGRATULA­TIONS and good wishes to Finnian Cawley who celebrated his 21st birthday recently. THE club will meet with parents and underage players on Wednesday night in Dromore West Community Centre at 8pm for under 12/14 teams and 8.30pm for under 16/18 teams. It is important that all attend.

WINDMILL Players stage their final performanc­e of “Tom, Dick and Harry” in Ballymote Art Deco Centre on Friday and Saturday night at 8pm. Don’t miss the last opportunit­y to see this hilarious production.

Ladies - Training has commenced for the adult players in the club with a view to entering a team in county competiton­s in the coming season. After a few seasons in which we failed to field a team at adult level this is a positive and welcome developmen­t. Anybody wishing to join the squad should contact the team manager Paul O’Brien or any club official.

Congratula­tions to club player Geraldine Ruane who has been awarded a Connacht LGFA Higher Education Bursary. It caps a great week for Geraldine coming hot on the heels of her been named Senior Player of the Year in recognitio­n of her exploits with her adopted club Eoghan Rua in 2017. We look forward to seeing her back wearing the “Blue and White” shortly.

Thanks to all who supported the fundraisin­g dance in The Diamond Coast Hotel on Friday night last. It was wonderful to see such a large crowd present and enjoying themselves as they danced the night away to the sound of Robert Mizzell and his support act Stuart Moyles.

Well done to former club underage player Róisín Kilgannon who sang the National Anthem at the All-Ireland Finals of Scór na nÓg which were held in the Knocknarae Arena on Saturday last whilst another former club player, Megan Mullarkey, heads off to work in the USA in the coming days. We wish her bon voyage.
