Private Peaceful
On Thursday the 8th of March, a thoughtprovoking piece of theatre comes to the Hawk’s Well stage. Following on from the worldwide success of Michael Morpurgo’s best-selling book, film and stage play, War Horse, Simon Reade adapts and directs a stage version of another of Morpurgo’s award-winning books, Private Peaceful - a timely reminder of the heroic sacrifices that were made by those involved in World War 1. The stor y charts the life of a young soldier, Tommo Peaceful, a private played by Shane O’Regan who faces the firing squad for cowardice. The play highlights the dreadful horrors of war while celebrating the joy fulness of life, both which are clearly bound together in this not-to-missed, magnificent one-man theatre production.
There is also a show scheduled for schools on Friday the 9th of March at 10am and this has sold out. Following Thursday night’s performance, the audience is invited to attend a chat show in the theatre foyer, hosted by Theatre Artist in Residence, Bob Kelly.
