MOYLOUGH ARTS AND HERITAGE CENTRE

The directors of Belt Torc Developmen­t Co Ltd and members of subcommitt­ees will develop a plan of activities for 2018, at a general meeting to be held at the Moylough Arts and Heritage Centre Thursday, February 22, commencing at 9 p.m. New members are welcome to attend and to submit any new ideas they may wish to propose.

The centre is available to rent at a reasonable cost for various community events. Volunteers are always invited to participat­e in various projects.

Weekly card games are proving successful, new players are always welcome. Results last week were: joint winners on six games were John Browne and Malachy Maher. Runners-up on five games were Liz Walsh, Michael Fleming, John Brennan, and Gerry Connolly.

Recent raffle winners: Pearce Henry, Tom Stenson, Pádraig Brennan, John Brennan, Paul Flannery, James Hyland, Betty Joyce.

CURRY PARISH HISTORY

The main topic of our November meeting attended by 30 members and guests was the Collooney-Claremorri­s railway line and its impact on Curry and surroundin­g districts, from its opening in 1895 to its closure in 1975.

Our next meeting takes place at the Yeats County Inn, Curry on Tuesday, February 27, at 8 p.m.
