McLoughlin at United Nations

-

DEPUTY Tony McLoughlin attended a series of Parliamentary hearings at the United Nations in New York dealing with migration last week. Deputy McLoughlin said: “I was asked by the Taoiseach to represent Dáil Eireann at the conference on Migration at the UN General Assembly in New York last week. It was a great privilege to have been there to represent Ireland amongst all the nations of the world. The hearings heard national migration policies from countries at different stages of development and with different migration patterns. It outlined the need for greater bilateral, regional and global coordination. I felt the UN delegates listened very closely to Ireland when discussing the topic of migration as the world is very much aware of our long history of migrating to other countries and our role in supporting our migrants abroad.”
