The ‘Up the Bit o’Red campaign’ reaches €30,000

-

THE #UpTheBitored fund is now at €31,000 with the group collecting money again last Friday night at the Derry City game.

The group is made up of 13 supporters, working in association with the Sligo Rovers Committee.

The fundraising project will continue until the end of March.

Three successive years of struggle, without the financial windfall of European football, leave the club with debts of €180,000.

The group’s aim is to raise as much as possible before the end of March to ease the financial pressure.

They want to give Gerard Lyt- tle and his squad the best chance of succeeding in what is a very competitive league.

Supporters are responding to the club’s appeal for help, according to their means.

Contributions range from €5,000 to €10.

Every donation is welcome and the group pledge that all funds received will be publicly acknowledged on the website.

In 2015 several members of the group were involved in the Rally Around The Rovers (RAR) campaign.

Donors to that drive received a specially commissioned RAR souvenir badge.

The group are now commis- sioning a car sticker, with the slogan, ‘I’m a Sligo Rovers Fan’ - UTBOR 2018’ and plan to give one to every individual who donates to the current campaign.

“We hope that in Australia, the United States, the UK as well as in every part of Ireland, vehicles with a Sligo Rovers fan inside will be instantly recognisable,” the group said.

Contributions can be made in several ways, including via members of our group, listed in alphabetical order, and Sligo Rovers Committee members can be contacted via details below. Payments can be made to any of those individuals.

Payments can be made via the club office in person or by credit card via phone between 10am and 2pm on weekdays (071-9171212).

Very few League of Ireland clubs can boast similar dedication from fans, as every time Rovers are in trouble, the fans are always on hand to help dig them out of a proverbial hole.
