CRIB COLLECTION

Thanks is expressed to all who made contributi­ons to the crib box in church of Our Lady Assumed into Heaven Enniscrone and because of the generous donations Enniscrone Church was able to send the sum of €650 to Sister Mary Killeen a Mercy Nun, who has been working for many years with the children in the slums of Nairobi in what is reputed to be the biggest slum in the world.

EVENTS COMMITTEE

The Enniscrone Events Committee would like to extend to you a warm welcome to take part in this year’s Parade. We have organised this year’s Parade in Enniscrone for Saturday, March 17, at 1 p.m. To celebrate Enniscrone’s achievemen­t in the community Pride of Place awards, this year’s theme is ‘Pride of Place’. We are hoping for record participat­ion and spectators this year. There will be a prize for the best Float. The more colorfull the better.

Assembly is from the Diamond Coast Hotel at 12.30 p.m. and leaving at 1 p.m. continuing to the Fire Station. We hope that you can join in the fun. Please spread the word, the more the merrier. BRIDGE CLUB

The Enniscrone Social Bridge club is run each Wednesday in the Diamond Coast Hotel. Bridge commences at 7.45 p.m. The Presentati­on night for the Freeman Trophy took place on Wednesday the 21st.

The Lady president Mairin Wade thanked Anne Freeman for her continued support and guidance for the club, and in particular for her generous sponsorshi­p with the Freeman Trophy each year. This is the sixth year it has been played. Anne thanked Huey Daly, our Games Director for his outstandin­g Bridge administra­tion skills and continued loyalty to our club. The winners are as follows: – first Moya Brogan, second Christy McDonagh, third Jacqueline Kilcullen, fourth Anne Treacy, fifth Jerry Boland.

Commiserat­ions to Ciaran O’Dowd and his Waterford IT teammates on their one-point loss to Mary Immaculate College in the Trench Cup final played at Santry on Saturday.

There was no winner of the €2,800 jackpot when the draw took place in the Pilot Bar on Saturday last. Numbers drawn were 11, 18 and 20. Winners of €25 each were Michelle Walsh, Edward Clarke, Zuzu Bartonova and Pat McCloat. Jackpot for next draw on Saturday, February 24, in McNulty’s Bar will be €3,000.
