25 CARD GAME

The regular game takes place each Tuesday night at 9 p.m. Bring a partner but if necessary we can match you up. Winners were Brian Foley/John Callaghan on 12 Games. Runners-up were Jodie Cooney/Pascal McGoldrick on 11 Games.

RETIREMENT MASS

A large attendance of Carraroe parishione­rs gathered for a thanksgivi­ng Mass for Evelyn and Martin Scanlon to mark their retirement as sacristan after 30 years of dedicated service to the church in Carraroe. Fr Murray was joined by Fr Lombard, Fr Gilhooly and Fr Walsh to celebrate the Mass.

The full church listened to the glowing tribute paid by Fr Jim on behalf of the parishione­rs of Carraroe for their dedicated and loyal service. The adult choir added to the ceremony with wonderful music and hymns. Afterwards all adjourned to the community centre for beautiful meal served by Kieran Roddy Catering Services which allowed all chat and reminisce about Evelyn and Martin long associatio­n with the church and Holywell.

Maura Marren Chair of the parish council presented Evelyn and Martin with a specially commission­ed painting of the Holywell by local artist Celine O’Flynn and invited Evelyn and Martin to cut a cake. The Carraroe community wish Evelyn and Martin a very long and happy retirement.

DEFIBRILLA­TORS

Please note the defibrilla­tors are located at Community Centre and Community Field Clubhouse. Code is posted beside the machine. Please be aware CCTV is in operation. We will be organising CPR training in during the year. If anyone wishes to be trained please call 087 2222835 and we will place name on list.

DATE FOR DIARY

Committee met on Thursday evening and agreed to organise a number of fundraisin­g events in aid of maintainin­g CPR training/Defibrilla­tors and Text Alert Systems. The first event is a cake sale and Coffee/Tea which will take place on Good Friday in Community Centre. Donations of cakes and community support will be appreciate­d – more detailslat­er.

LAKEVIEW GUILD ICA

The regular meeting is held on first Tuesday of each month in Carraroe Community Centre New Members always welcome contact Mary Harkin for more informatio­n at 086 3755894. The walking group continues every Thursday morning at 10.30 from the Riverside Hotel. The federation Irish night will be held in Teach Ceol in Riverstown on Saturday, March 10, as part of Seachtain na Gaeilge celebratio­ns.

OPERATION TRANSFORMA­TION

The Operation transforma­tion in Carraroe is entering its final stage. Some people have suggested the idea of continuing into the summer. Various options are being suggested including an organised walk around Carraroe one evening per week and also joining Sligo Park Run on Saturday at 9.30 a.m. as walkers. (Sligo Park Run is anxious that people who wish to walk would join as walkers). It is also suggested that the Indoor Fitness/Pilates/Yoga and regular weight checks continue each Tuesday and Thursday evenings. The final event for this phase of the programme is scheduled in Sligo Park Hotel on Friday, March 2.Come along and input to future plans.
