THE Sligo Scor table quiz took place last Saturday night in Kilmacowen Hall, Coolera where the winners would progress to the All-Ireland Scor finals. Our team of John O’Neill, Nicholas Murray, Brendan McHugh and Shaun Dorrian put in a great effort but finished in 3rd place. This year registrati­on will be done online. You can do this by downloadin­g the GAA APP on their phone. Existing members should have received a text at this stage, with an access code to enable you to ‘Sign Up’ over the last few days. Once you log into the app the price you are due to pay will already have been calculated based on last year’s informatio­n. If the rate no longer applies please contact club registrar. If you have yet to receive a text then you can proceed to download the GAA APP and click “Ask Admin”. New members can check out our website for more details on how to register. Our Senior Ladies warm up league begins this Sunday March 11th at 10am against St. Nathys. We would like to wish the Ladies and their management the best of luck in their first game of the season. Senior Ladies training continues this Tuesday evening in Keash at 7.30pm. Anyone interested in joining or returning to the team are always welcome. Clothing donations may still be collected by senior ladies team player Catherine Cryan until Sunday March 18th. All proceeds go toward developmen­t fund for our new clubhouse in Keash. CLOONACOOL

The club continues to run their clothes collection next weekend at the community park on Friday evening from 8-9 pm on Saturday from 4.30-5.30 pm and on Sunday morning from 11.30-12.30 pm. All donations will be greatly appreciate­d to help to raise funds for club underage jerseys and Junior goalposts. Training continues for the Junior squad during the week at the usual times as they gear up for the new season ahead. Clothes donations can also be left in the park at training. The best of luck is extended to St. Attractas senior college team Tubbercurr­y, as they attempt to win the Connacht colleges senior championsh­ip in the famed Tuam Stadium on Saturday next, when they take on Rice college Westport in the Connacht colleges final. Our club are represente­d on the panel by Oisín Grehan, Aaron Moylan, Rian Moylan, Conor Prendergas­t, and Sean Carnahan. Sympathy is extended to the family,relatives and friends of the late Eamonn Canny of Garrafraun­s, Dunmore, Co. Galway, who went to his eternal reward last week. He is the father of Sinead McVann and father-in-law of former senior player John McVann. May he rest in peace.

ST FARNAN’S

THE club enjoyed great success at Sligo Senior Scór final on Saturday night taking four county titles and finishing a very creditable third in the quiz. Siobhan Foy saw off stiff competitio­n to take the solo singing title with Frances Hanley winning the recitation. Our music group are no strangers to success and captured the title yet again with musicians Jason McGuinness, Deirdre Kilgannon, Laura Flatley and Siobhan Foy. We won the novelty act with an original script by Scór stalwart Sean Kilgannon. Sean was joined in the cast by Joe Burns, Kenny Sheridan, Deirdre Kilgannon, Frances Hanley and our music group. Our quiz team was Kieran O’Connor, Frances Hanley, Sean Kilgannon and Kenny Sheridan. All the focus now is on the Connaught Final which will take place on Monday, March 19th in Lecarrow, Roscommon. The club would like to acknowledg­e the contributi­on of Ceoltoiri Tireragh and the Windmill players to our success in music and novelty act. Well done to Niall Culkin and Eunan Curran who had a Slave Date Auction on Friday and Stephen Feeney and Cormac McGowan who had a pool competitio­n on Saturday in aid of our Blue and White Fight Night. Thanks to The Still and The Flying Horse for hosting the events. This Friday Fergal Kilgannon will host an arm wrestling competitio­n in the Still, while Ollie Golden has a cake sale in Dromore West Community Centre. Please support all our boxers in their attempts to raise funds for the club. Congratula­tions to our players who received the sacrament of Confirmati­on in Dromore West on Sunday. We send birthday wishes to Patrick O’Connor and Eamonn Kilgannon , both of whom celebrated their 20th birthday this week. The club extends sincere sympathy to our Intermedia­te team manager, Gerry Connolly on the death of his mother Maye Connolly. We extend our deepest condolence­s to Maye’s family, relatives and friends. We also extend our deepest sympathy to the family, relatives and friends of Anthony Coleman. COLLOONEY HANDBALL

UNDERAGE 40 x 20 B County Championsh­ips was held in Collooney last Sunday 04-03-2018 , with players from all 4 clubs taking part. Sligo host Leitrim in the Connaught semi-finals in the next round. County Board meeting this Tuesday , 0603-2018 in Drumcliffe at 8-30. Well done to Clive Conway U 12 and Gearoid Coleman U 16 who both won Sligo 40 x 20 B titles last weekend. Bingo takes place this Thursday at 9 p.m, the jackpot is €5,900 in 42 numbers. Underage introducti­on to handball in Collooney continues on Tuesdays at 6-30, come along and give Handball a go.

BALLYMOTE

DUE to uncertaint­y of weather conditions we had to cancel Monster Auction last Sunday. It will now take place next Sunday 11th March at 12.30pm in Loftus Hall. There is still time to donate useful objects for Auction, cake sale, tea and coffee are on offer. U 12 team played very well to qualify for next weeks indoor Peile finals, beating St Molaise Gaels and Geevagh. Good luck next Sunday, so far a good start to the year. Abbott Cup fixtures are released and Ballymote will start their competitio­n 25th March against Curry in Ballymote. League 3 will begin 31st March. All fixtures are available on Sligo GAA website. Table Quiz will take place 23rd March 9.30pm in Doddys Bar. Table of 4 cost 40euro.

ST JOHN’S

THE St Johns Underage Academy Coaching continues until the end of March with all sessions being held indoors. Boys U7/8 Saturdays from 4-5pm and Boys U9/10Saturday 5-6pm; These will be held in The Sports Complex, Cleveragh Boys U11/12 Saturday from 3-4pm in The Tennis Club. Girls on Sunday U 7/8/9/10 from 4-5pm and U11/12/13/14 from 5-6pm both in the Sports Complex,These coaching sessions are free for paid up members. As our Operation Transforma­tion since Christmas has been so successful it has been decided to continue it on for a further 6 week session which begins this week on Tuesday. Our minor team begin their season on Sunday next March 11th when they take on the combined St Farnans/St Patricks team in Seamie Donegan Park, Dromard with an 11.00 throw-in time. Our Senior team, under Michael McNamara’s management, begin their competitiv­e season in the Benson Cup on Saturday March 24th when they will take on Bunninadde­n in Stenson Park at 5.00pm. The other teams in their group are Calry- St Josephs, Geevagh and St Michaels. The Division 2 League will begin on Sunday April 1st with a home game against Geevagh. TUBBERCURR­Y

Well done to St. Attractas 1st years who had a comprehens­ive 2-3 to 8-8 win over St. Nathys during the week. Next up for them are Carrick-on-Shannon on Tuesday 6th @12:30 in Carrick. Also this Saturday the reschedule­d Senior A final between St. Attractas and Rice college takes place in Tuam @12:30. Keep an eye out for any venue or time changes with those fixtures. On Sunday 11th our club minors kick off their league campaign with an away game to Coolaney/Mullinabre­ena at 11am. This is also subject to change as both sets of players will be involved with St. Attractas on Saturday. Best of luck to all.

Easter Camp.

Colm McGee and Pat Kilcoyne are hosting a three day GAA Easter camp in Kilcoyce Park, Tubbercurr­y from Monday 26th to Wednesday 28th March 102p.m. An action-packed and fun-filled three day of activities during the Easter holidays, which revolves around Gaelic Games. It is suitable for children aged 6 to 14 years old. It costs €30 per child, €50 for two children and €75 for a family. Due to the poor weather conditions over the past few days the social dance that had been fixed for Saturday night last in the May Queen was cancelled and will now take place on Sunday night the 1st of April.

SHAMROCK GAELS

THE postponed monthly club meeting will be held this Tuesday 6th March at 9PM with the Bord NaNog meeting on the same night at 8.30PM. There is a referees foundation course scheduled for this Friday 9th March, anyone interested in taking up refereeing should contact Chris O’Neill or any club official for further informatio­n. Preparatio­ns are well underway for the London trip to see Sligo V London in the 1st round of the Connacht Championsh­ip. The trip will be an all inclusive package including flights, hotel and transfers from the airport and to the match on Sunday 6th May. CLUB Lottery tickets are on sale at the moment from the usual sellers. This is a crucial fundraiser for our club every year, and your support for it is greatly appreciate­d. Under-6/8/10’s training is ongoing in the Teeling centre, Coolooney, at 9:00,10:00 and 11:00 respective­ly. New players are very much welcome. Under-12 training at Bunninadde­n Community Centre is taking place from 7 to 8 on Tuesday evenings. Under 14 and Under 16 training is on at 7:15 in St.Nathy’s Hall, Mullinabre­ena. DUE to weather conditions our Annual Dinner dance which was due to take place in Kilronan Castle on Friday evening last was postponed until further notice. The disappoint­ment was particular­ly acute for the volunteers who had invested so much time in organising the event. The club acknowledg­es and appreciate­s this effort.Another victim of the weather was the Cumann na mBunscol indoor hurling semi- final due to have taken place on Thursday last and featuring the boys of Geevagh NS . John Corcoran and his team eagerly await news of a rescheduli­ng.

AA Nursery - Take Two! Our GAA nursery coaches have ‘thawed out’ after the last week’s weather, and we will begin our Saturday morning coaching for 2018 this Saturday, March 11th in Oxfield. The session times are as follows: Players born 2012 and 2013: 9:45am to 10:30am (venue tbc). Players born 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011: 10:30am to 11:30am (outdoors). New players are particular­ly welcome to join any of the above coaching sessions. OUR Zero2Hero fundraiser, which was organised by our senior men’s footballer­s before Christmas, raised an impressive €10,979. Huge thanks go to the main event organiser Niall Canning and the senior players for their sterling work. Special mention also to our four main Zero2Hero event sponsors for their generous support. They were: Clifford Electrical, Dean Hall Tree Services, Bank of Ireland Sligo & AVA Systems in Finisklin. A Child Protection course will be held in Oxfield on March 12th at 7pm. WE will be having our one off Club Registrati­on night on Wednesday, March 14 from 7PM to 9PM in the Clayton hotel Sligo. This is a great opportunit­y for you to come and meet the coaches and hear what their plans are for the upcoming season. Each of the under age club coaches will be present and would be delighted to hear any input that anybody might have.
