GOOD FRIDAY CLEAN-UP
The annual Coolaney-Rockfield Tidy Towns clean-up will take place on Friday, March 30 (Good Friday) from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. All are invited to meet at the Coolaney Community Centre at 5 p.m. where gloves, High Viz bibs, Litter pickers and bags will be provided free of charge. It is hoped to clean up all the approach roads to both Coolaney and Rockfield.
If you are unavailable on Good Friday, you can do it in your own time. All equipment can be got by calling into O’Gradys shop.
EASTER RAFFLE DRAW
This year’s residents’ association fundraiser draw will take place on March 29 at 9 p.m. in O’Gradys Shop Coolaney. The fundraiser this year is set up so that each individual residents’ association will keep the money that they have raised, which goes straight back into their estates and areas. The more they raise, the better.
The aim of this is that the raised funds can be used directly by the estates to make improvements and general preparation for Tidy Towns judging which takes place in June. Great prizes to be won including Hampers, Hotel vouchers, Car service, Mountain Bike and much more. Fundraising cards will be available shortly in O’Gradys shop.
SCHOOL MUSICAL
St Mary’s College, Ballysadare presents ‘Seussical the Musical’ in Skreen-Dromard Community centre on Friday and Saturday, March 23, and 24, at 8 p.m. Tickets cost €12 Adult and €8 Student/Child. FORÓIGE CLUB
The Foróige Club continues each Friday evening at Coolaney Community Centre between 7.30 p.m. and 9 p.m. It is open to all youths aged 13 to 18 years. We are also currently seeker volunteer leaders. For more information contact Mark at 086 0740841 or Brendan 087 3964541.
BOIL WATER NOTICE
The Boil Water notice in the Coolaney/Rockfield is in place till further notice. The notice has been issued for people served by the Lough Talt Regional Water Supply Scheme due to the detection of cryptosporidium in treated water. Irish Water has said it will be carrying out weekly sampling at several sites in the scheme. It said the notice will be lifted if there were sufficient clear samples over a number of weeks.
GAA FOR KIDS
Coolaney-Mullinabreena GAA Club have restarted ‘Blue Kidz’ every Saturday morning in the Teeling Centre in Collooney. The weekly 25 Card Game continues in Killoran Community Centre – Wednesdays at 9 p.m. Everyone welcome.
SENIORS ALERT SCHEME
The Seniors Alert Scheme alarm pendants are free and available for people over 65. The objective of the Seniors Alert Scheme (SAS) is to encourage community support for vulnerable older people in our communities through the provision of personal monitored alarms to enable older persons, of limited means, to continue to live securely in their homes with confidence, independence and peace of mind.
Funding is available under the scheme towards the purchase of personal alarm or pendant. Funding is made available by the Department of Housing, Planning and Local Government. For an application form contact Cllr Dara Mulvey 087 6885050.
WALKING GROUP
The walking group meets every Tuesday and Friday at the Mill Pharmacy carpark at 8.30 p.m. New members welcome. Just come along on the night.
