Spring is in the air as walking group is busy planning treks

-

WITH beauty in abundance in South Sligo there is hardly any difficulty for the local walking group to choose locations for its leisurely weekly walks.

The group was formed a number of years ago and it’s a great way for people to meet, socialise and get a stroll in too.

The South Sligo Walking Group was established back in 2013 as a collaboration between the Family Resource Centre in Tubbercurry and the Sligo Sport and Recreation Partnership.

Walks this month include the Cloonacool Bog Walk, Kilmactigue Loop, Tullyhusheen Loop, Davros Bog Walk and Drimbane Walk.

As part of the Want to Walk Community Walking Project Tubbercurry FRC has organised a series of leisure walks on Wednesday mornings for people who have some free time and an interest in getting active.

Cathy Regan from the Tubbercurry FRC said: “This walking group has been set up awhile.

“We get different people coming and going on the Wednesdays.

“It’s a leisurely walk or people to enjoy. We cover areas all around South Sligo, Aclare, Banada, Curry, Mullinabreena etc. Walking is free, friendly, fun and good for our health.

“You are very welcome to come along and be part of a community walking group.

“We have a number of different walks over the next month and the walks are free and last about an hour and a quarter.

“It’s leisurely, social and mostly for people to get together and have a chat,” Cathy added. Details of the March walks are as follows; Wednesday 14 th March Kilmactigue Loop Meet at Kilmactigue Church Carpark 10.20am
