Training has resumed for the u12 and u14 teams during the week. Easkey u14s played in a Pella tournament on Tuesday night in Enniscone. Easkey had two teams in the tournament of which one got to the final, but unfortunat­ely lost by 1 point. Best of luck to Thomas Rolston and the management team for the coming season.

U16

The Easkey/ Enniscrone-Kilglass u16s are back training on Monday nights in the AstroTurf in Enniscrone. Best wishes to Eamon Connolly and Brian Taylor who are part of the management team for the coming year.

Minor

Easkey/ Enniscrone-Kilglass minor footballer­s began their 2018 season with a hard-fought 1-10 to 1-6 win over Tourlestra­ne on Sunday. They host Ballymote/Bunninadde­n in Quigabar next Sunday morning in round two. Best of luck to both the management team and players for the coming season. Senior

Our senior team is back training in preparatio­n for the Benson cup games and Division 2 league games coming up in March and April.

Senior Hurling

Easkey take on Carrick Hurling Club (St Marys) in Senior Hurling on Saturday @ 12 o’clock in Easkey pitch. There has been no Senior Hurling club in Easkey since the 80s, so it is great to see it making a comeback. Easkey were victorious in 1961 and 1962, winning 2 senior hurling championsh­ips in Sligo so best of luck to the management and players for the upcoming season. Our best wishes to Dessie who fractured his wrist at the weekend. Our girls U14 footballer­s produced a fine display in their Féile match against CT Gaels last Sunday afternoon before losing narrowly by two points. It was a great effort by the players. The competitiv­e season is cranking up for several of our club teams. Our boys U16 footballer­s open their league campaign this Saturday morning with a home match against Tourlestra­ne at 11am. Later that day, our senior men’s footballer­s will begin their 2018 season with a Kiernan Cup (Group 2) game against Coolera/ Strandhill at 5pm. They will then open their Furey’s Coaches Division 1 league campaign the following weekend, on Saturday, March 31st, against Coolaney/ Mullinabre­ena at Oxfield. Throw-in: 6pm.A frozen pitch in Keash forced the postponeme­nt of the ladies intermedia­te footballer­s Spring League game against Eastern Harps at the weekend. They are scheduled to host CT Gaels in Oxfield this Sunday. The club’s monthly meeting for March takes place on Monday 26th in Oxfield at 9pm.

St Pats/St Farnans begin their league campaign on Saturday next March 24th @11am with a away game against Easkey/ Enniscrone in Easkey. They then face Calry/St Joseph’s on Tuesday March 27th @ 6pm in Templeboy. G.A.A Cúl Camp St Pats will host the Kelloggs Cúl camp from 30th of July till 3rd of August.

OUR senior ladies battled hard against a stronger St Nathy’s team who were The winners on a freezing cold St Patrick’s morning followed at 11am by the Senior Hurlers where the tables turned and Tourlestra­ne were the comprehens­ive winners against Western Gaels . After the wondrous Rugby victory it was on to Aclare to enjoy and take part in the 25th successful parade and congratula­tions to the committee on entertaini­ng the crowds down through the years . OUR u14 Feile girls had their qualifying matches In Grange today and unfortunat­ely lost out to Molaise Gaels in a playoff In Baltic conditions . Best of luck to Molaise Gaels in their final. Thank you also to various visiting teams who played our own teams this week in a few exciting challenge matches. Can we remind all clubs travelling to Tourlestra­ne for games that there is a boil water notice on going in the area for the foreseeabl­e future so the water at the pitch is unsuitable for consumptio­n. Please bring your water bottles filled. Good luck to our u12 boys team taking part in a football blitz in Cloonacool tomorrow Monday. Reminder of our Good Friday Family fundraisin­g quiz night taking place again this year with great prizes to be had! The new season kicks-off on Sunday next with an away game against Tourlestra­ne in the Abbott cup competitio­n. The division three league starts on Sunday April 1st with a home fixture against St. Marys. All support at all the games through-out the year would be greatly appreciate­d by the players and management. COOLANEY/MULLINABRE­ENA

The Lotto is the principle fundraiser for the club every and your support is as always greatly appreciate­d. Our minor team got off to a great start to their league campaign with a win over local rival Tubbercurr­y/Cloonacool. A great performanc­e was underlined by a scoreline of 0-12 to 0-09. Our senior team is preparing for their first outing of the year against Curry, scheduled for 17:00 in Curry on Saturday the 24th of March as part of their Kiernan Cup campaign A special thank you to all the local businesses who have purchased advertisem­ent signs for Nace’O’Dowd Park. Please contact any of the club’s committee members if interested in acquiring on of these signs for your business. Under-6/8/10’s training is ongoing in the Teeling centre, Coolooney, at 9:00,10:00 and 11:00 respective­ly. New players are very much welcome. Under-12 training at Bunninadde­n Community Centre is taking place from 7 to 8 on Tuesday evenings. Under 14 and Under 16 training is on at 7:15 in Nace ‘O’ Dowd every Thursday. Great work continues at Nace’O’Dowd Park with the new sand training area nearing completion. The Sligo Leader partnershi­p currently have a vacancy for a position based in Nace’O’Dowd Park for the maintenanc­e and caretaking of the grounds. SHAMROCK GAELS

THE Junior team start their campaign next Sunday with a home game against St Marys in the Abbot Cup at 12.00PM. The postponed Minor game against Eastern Harps takes place away next Sunday at 11.00AM. The deposits for the London trip are now overdue - a copy of passport and deposit of €150 needs to be submitted to any club member. The lotto draw takes place next Saturday 24th March in Des McDonagh’s with the jackpot at €3,300. The club’s dinner dance takes place in the Clayton Hotel on Friday 6th April at which medals will be presented to the U21 Championsh­ip winning team. We will also be inducting founder member and first chairman Paddy Joe Quigley into the Shamrock Gaels Hall of Fame on the night. Tickets are now in circulatio­n and available from any club member. We are currently running an U6 Nursery Program for boys and girls born in 2012, 2013 and 2014 every Friday from 6.30-7.15 indoors in Coola Complex (beside school) - all welcome. The fees are the same as last year, €35 per child up to a maximum of €100 per family - this fee also covers insurance for the year.

ST MOLAISE GAELS

THE competitiv­e football season for our senior men gets underway this Saturday evening March 24th with a Group 2 Kiernan Cup fixture away to St Mary’s in Kent Park at 5.00pm.On Tuesday March 27th our U16 Boys have their opening League fixture with St John’s the visitors to Monsignor Hynes Park for a 6.00pm throw in. Our Minor boys team were defeated 4-14 to 2-04 by a strong Curry squad in the 2nd round of Fixtures in the Division I League on Sunday last. After a series of qualifying games at Monsignor Hynes Park on Sunday last our U14 Girls are in the final of the Feile qualifier against CT Gaels. Our next Lotto Draw will take place on Tuesday April 3rd at 8.30pm in the Clubhouse. Underage Coaching resumes at the Pitch this Saturday March 24th. Girls 10.00am to 11.00am and Boys 11.15am to 12.15am. Our new Hurling Academy will run from 12.15pm to 1.15pm and is open to Boys and Girls U12. Registrati­on can be done at Coaching for the next number of weeks. Our annual “Cash for Clobber” fundraiser is also underway . if you have any unwanted clothes or shoes they can be left at the Club Building at any time. WE will be holding our registrati­on night on Sunday, March 25th from 6-8pm in the Astro Turf at Quigabar. THE Enniscrone-Kilglass/Easkey U-16 team play their first competitiv­e game next Saturday at 11am when they meet St Farnan’s/St Pats. Good luck to the players and management for the coming year. WE will be holding a two-day Easter Camp on Monday March 26th and Tuesday March 27th for boys and girls aged 5-12. It will take place from 10.30am to 2pm with club coaches and Sligo GAA coaches on hand during the day to provide the coaching. Registrati­on takes place on the Monday morning from 10am, with a cost of €20 per child with discounts for multiple children from the same family. It promises to be a great two days. WELL done to everyone involved in an excellent St Patrick’s Day parade in Enniscrone last Saturday. THERE was no winner of last weekend’s blotto jackpot. Next week’s jackpot will be €3600.

GEEVAGH

CONGRATULA­TIONS to the boy’s indoor hurling team of Geevagh NS who bridged a seven-year gap and claimed the Cumann na mBunscol title by defeating Rathcormac NS in the Teeling Centre recently. Geevagh found themselves in arrears at half times but delivered a powerful second half display to run out comprehens­ive winners. The team, captained by John Corcoran also included Dara Mostyn, Shane O’Reilly, Dara Mostyn, Kyle Gabbidon, Jamie Brehoney, Sean Jordon, Odhran Conlon, Niall Donagher and Liam Cullen.

WELL done also to our neighbours in Ballintogh­er NS, coached by Kitty Conlon who took the girls title at the same venue. TRAINING for U-8’s starts this Saturday March 24th on the ‘Astro Turf ’ from 10 -11.15 am. All participan­ts must be registered with the club in advance.

A meeting of all underage and adult coaches takes place in Geevagh NS on Thursday evening, March 22nd at 8pm. Every team should be represente­d on the night. GEEVAGH / St Michaels play St Farnan’s / St Pats in the Minor Football League Division 2 on Tuesday 19th March in Geevagh while the U-16 ‘s takes on Ballymote / Bunninadde­n in Ballintogh­er on Saturday 24th at 11 am. On the same evening, March 24th our intermedia­te footballer­s get their season underway when they face St Michael’s in Pairc Ailbhe at 5pm in the first round of the Benson Cup. Good luck to all concerned. OUR Annual Dinner Dance has been reschedule­d and will now take place on Friday April 20th in Kilronan Castle. Tickets will be available shortly from members of the executive.

EASTERN HARPS

OUR senior men make their first outing of 2018 where they are away to Tubbercurr­y on Saturday at 5pm. Our senior ladies game against Drumcliffe was postponed due to the cold snap. They are away to Touestrane Saturday at 10am. Bingo continues every Friday night at 8.30pm in Gurteen Hall. Jackpot is €2,900 in 48 calls or less. The in house lotto is €500.

ST MARY’S

WELL done to all our participan­ts who braved the cold weather to be in the St Mary’s entry to the St Patricks Day Parade. This has become a great tradition for the Club and is a sign that Saturday morning coaching is just around the corner. This year coaching will start on Saturday March 24th, and parents might note that registrati­on (where not already completed) will be taken on the day. Boys and girls aged 6-14 are invited to attend an Easter camp in Kent park on 26th & 27th March which Mark Breheny is running. All proceeds will go to the ladies / men’s senior teams training fund.
