North Sligo AC teams in dominant form

THE first leg of the Sligo Road League got off to a great start with the staging of the Tubbercurr­y 10k on St Patrick’s Day.

The organisers of this race now in its 45th year are to be congratula­ted for putting on another great race which had both quantity and quality and was superbly organised under the leadership of Chairman Gerry Lee and a great army of volunteers.

North Sligo AC had 16 members taking part with some fine performanc­es and PBs from some.

Desie Foley had a very impressive run to finish 6th in 34minutes 56seconds,

Seventh was Aidan McMoreland in 35minutes 38seconds, 8th was Donal Egan in 35minutes 43seconds and Eamon Murphy was North Sligo’s 4th scorer in 12th place and first over 50 to give his team 1st position with 33pts.

Eamon McAndrew was a bit below his best in 14th place,

David McCullagh took 1minute 33seconds off his PB to finish 16th in 38minutes 13seconds ,

Alan Wallace took 54seconds off his previous to finish 22nd in 39minutes 17seconds,

JD Herrity finished strongly in 47minutes 26seconds.

Heather Foley led the North Sligo women’s team to victory in the team award to finish 3rd in 38minutes 43seconds.

Sarah Healy was the next North Sligo runner to finish in 41minutes 39seconds followed closely by Patricia McCosker in 41minutes 48seconds.

Aisling Van Rensburg was the 4th scorer,Andrea Horgan finished strongly in 43minutes 50seconds, Trish Lee was next in 44minutes 49seconds,

Mary Gilmartin was next in 48minutes 12seconds and Cathy McCarthy was on pacing duties to finish in 53minutes 47seconds.

John Croghan set a big new PB in the 5k in Tubbercurr­y to run 29minutes 1seconds. A great performanc­e from all the North Sligo runners.
