St Molaise Gaels GAA Training returns with hurling on Saturday morning, March 24, at Monsignor Hynes Park, Grange. Under 6-12 Girl’s 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.; under 6-12 Boys 11.15 a.m. to 12.15 p.m.; under 8-12 Girls and Boys’ Hurling 12.15 p.m. to 1.15 p.m.; Girls and boys born 2000 to 2013. Membership Fee: Each Child €40 or Family €80.

MINI MARATHON

This meeting, which will be followed by the Glenboy/Glenfarne Group Water Scheme AGM, will consider recent changes in legislatio­n and the revised subsidy for group water schemes negotiated by the National Federation of Group Water Schemes (NFGWS) and the government.

These changes have fundamenta­l implicatio­ns for the Glenboy/Glenfarne Group Water Scheme. Members will be asked to approve motions recommende­d by the Management Committee (board of Directors) to insure the continued delivery of a safe and reliable water supply in the area served by the Scheme.

ROVERS CAPTAIN

Former Manorhamil­ton Rangers player, Peter Maguire has been appointed Sligo Rovers under-15 team captain for the coming season.

Peter’s Sligo Rovers appointmen­t was warmly welcomed by a Manor Rangers spokespers­on who said ‘great news coming from the Showground­s tonight with the announceme­nt that former Manorhamil­ton Rangers player Peter Maguire has been announced as Captain of the Sligo Rovers under-15 team for the coming season.

Peter will play for Rovers in a pre-season tournament in Gweedore on Sunday (March 11) against Finn Harps and Shamrock Rovers. Well done Peter from all of us at Manorhamil­ton Rangers AFC.’.

The Sligo Rovers under-15 management team for the coming season consists of former Rovers player, Conor O’Grady along with Marcel Gordon and Paul Masterson. The FAI SSE Airtricity Boy’s under-15 League will take place later this year. It is likely to commence in August.

SLIGO FLEADH

The County Sligo Fleadh takes place in the Mercy College Sligo on Saturday, June 2, and Sunday, June 3, but the closing date for entries is strictly this Friday, March 23.

County Sligo Fleadh entry forms are available from CCE branches, music teachers or on the web pages – sligocount­yfleadh.ie and fredfinn.ie. Meantime competitor­s who are not from County Sligo can compete in certain categories at the Sligo Fleadh in June.

On this matter Sligo Comhaltas Co. Board secretary, Teresa McCormack says ‘ competitor­s from outside the County (including Leitrim) can take part at the Sligo Fleadh only in group competitio­ns i.e. grúpaí cheoil, céilí bands and dancing groups.

‘For solo competitio­ns i.e. whistle, fiddle, accordion, etc., competitor­s must take part in their own county.’.

TRACTOR/CAR RUN

A North Sligo Tractor and Car Run in aid of North West STOP Suicide will take place on Sunday, April 15, starting at 11 a.m. from the Oxfield Sports Centre Drumcliffe (Carney).

The Tractor and Car Run will make a return trip to Raughley. The entry fee for it is €10 per tractor or car. After Tractor and Car Run is over refreshmen­ts will be served and a raffle will take place.
