The holy well traditions date back to pre- Christian times when wells had deities associated with them, and were places of ritual and ceremony. Of course at The Cat and The Moon we’ve a particular fondness for wells, as it was a sacred well of St Coleman which is the setting for W B Yeats’ play The Cat and The Moon which inspired the name of our shop.
