Avalon Centre
PARENT/TODDLER GROUPS
Our parent and toddler groups are now closed for the Easter break. They resume on Monday, April 9, and meet every Monday and Wednesday mornings from 10.30 a.m. to midday. Parents, grandparents and carers are welcome. Drop in to the centre or call 071 9161836. There’s always a warm welcome, with playtime, story-time, music-time and snacks, etc. €3 per family. AFTERSCHOOL CLUBS
Our afterschool clubs are now finished for the Easter break. Keep an eye on our Facebook page for updates on new and exciting programmes to come. YOUTH CLUBS
Our junior youth club and senior youth clubs are also closed for the Easter break and will return on the week commencing, April 9 the junior clubs meets on Monday and Wednesday from 6.30 p.m. to 8 p.m. The Senior Youth Club meets on Tuesday and Thursday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. BINGO
Bingo continues every Friday night from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. Double books cost €15, single books €10, half books €5 and single sheets €1. There is also a raffle on the night. SOCIAL DAY CENTRE
The social day centre runs four days per week, Tuesday to Friday from 9.30 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. Contact the centre for further details. PIPE BAND
Bagpipe classes have started every Monday evening from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. The minimum age for learners is 10 years and tuition is free. Drumming classes will be starting soon. All learning instruments will be provided. Call Paul at 083 3320719 for further details. BOWLING
The Avalon Centre Bowling Club meets ever Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the centre. Just call in on the day.
Carraroe
CAKE SALE
The usual cake sale will take place in Community Centre next Friday after the 3 p.m. ceremonies. CADDRA is required to maintain our defibrillators and we have to replace batteries and pads in June. These items are expensive and we are appealing to the community to assist.

Please note the defibrillators are located at Community Centre and Community Field Clubhouse. Code is posted beside the machine. Please be aware CCTV is in operation. Our community Spring Clean is scheduled to take place on Saturday, April 14, commencing at 9.30 a.m. in Community Centre. All residents are asked to keep the date free to ensure we give our area good clean-up for the summer Only clear plastic bags supplied on day will be picked up for disposal by Sligo County Council.
The usual Hi-Viz, Pickers, Bags and Gloves will be available. The church Sacristan has retired and Fr Jim is looking for a replacement. The work involves setting up and clearing up before and after Mass. Also, some help at Funerals and other services. CARNEY LISSADELL 10K
The annual Carney Lissadell 10k Road Race and Walk takes place on Easter Monday, April 2, Entry €15 online with runireland. com or €18 on the day at Oxfield. Registration on the day starts at 9.30 a.m. followed by Kids Fun Run at 11 a.m., 10k Walk at 11.30 a.m. and10k Run at midday. Additional prizes this year for first Male Team and first Female Team. SOCCER SISTERS CAMP
Booking is now open for the Soccer Sisters Easter Camp in Carney on Wednesday, March 28, and Thursday, March 29, The camp is open to all girls aged 6-14. Cost of the camp is €30 which includes a kit and a football. Booking is online at: soccersisters.ie. SEAN NÓS

Carney Tidy Towns were successful in our bid to become one of six communities chosen to take part in a pilot project to prepare a Biodiversity Action Plan for villages and the surrounding areas. This plan means there will be expert advice given on how best to preserve and protect the wildlife of our area. Well done to all involved, the project is being delivered by Woodrow Solutions on behalf of the Sligo Heritage Office. COMMUNITY GAMES
