A B&B in Tubbercurr­y was highly commended by the Georgina Campbell Irish Breakfast Awards in associatio­n with Fáilte Ireland.

The awards were announced at the InterConti­nental Hotel in Dublin recently.

In the B&B category, Coill Dara House B&B in Tubbercurr­y run by Patricia and Roger McCarrick was highly commended.

The Georgian-style family home is set on an acre of landscaped gardens on a sheep farm close to Tubbercurr­y.

Meaning Wood of Oak, Coill Dara was described at the awards as giving guests a wonderful away-from-it-all rural ambience. “Luxurious, family-friendly and pet friendly, this delightful place also offers excellent food, including a very good breakfast; a sideboard full of all kinds of fresh fruit, cereals and health grains as well as hot dishes prepared to order - including a perfectly cooked Irish breakfast, which is also available in a mini version.

“Everything is delicious and beautifull­y presented - and packed lunches can be provided too. No ordinary B&B - and, like so many places in the west, what guest love most is the genuine welcome and natural friendline­ss of their hosts.”

Archways B&B in Rosslare was the overall winner in the category, with Castle Murray House in St John’s Point Dunkineely, Co Donegal also highly commended.

Other notable winners included Ashford Castle in the Five Star Hotel Category, with Harvey’s Point, Lough Eske and Beech Hill Country House, Derry receiving highly commendati­ons in the 4-Star Hotel Category. The Georgina Campbell Awards are the longest running independen­t hospitalit­y awards in Ireland.
