ST FARNAN’S

Our Blue and White Fight Night was an outstandin­g success on Saturday last. A big thank you to all our boxers for their dedication and commitment to training and fundraisin­g for the event. There were a number of awards presented on the night. Best Male Boxer was won by Oisín Connolly, while Aileen Kelly took the Best Female Boxer title. The Best Fight of the Night Award went to Eunan Curran and Darren Hynes.

On the same night our intermedia­te team played Calry/ St. Joseph’s in the first round of the league, but were defeated by 1-15 to 0-5.On Saturday next we play St. Pat`s at 6.30 pm in Templeboy. Our under 12 team play Tourlestra­ne in Templeboy on Tuesday at 6.30 pm. On Friday St. Farnan`s/ St. Pat`s minor team play Coolera/ Strandhill on Friday in Skreen also at 6.30 pm.

MINOR Football

OUR minor team were defeated by Calry- St Josephs in Hazelwood last Thursday evening UNDER 16 Football

OUR U16 team travelled to Grange last Tuesday evening where they were well beaten by the local St Molaise Gaels side. UNDER 12 Football

OUR Under 12 Div 1 and Div 3 Boys begin their season on Tues April 3rd when St Molaise Gaels come to Stenson Park with the throw-in for both game set for 6.00. SENIOR Football

OUR Skoda-Burns Garage-Sponsored Senior team, began their Div 2 League campaign against Geevagh last Sat evening in Stenson Park, Cuilbeg and unfortunat­ely they suffered defeat to a spirited visiting team on a 2-14 to 2-9 scoreline. Geevagh were quick into their stride and led by 1-4 before our lads opened their account. By half time St Johns had reduced the deficit to a single point 1-6 to 1-5 with Charlie Harrison scoring our goal. The second half did not bring much improvemen­t for our side and a goal from David Rooney did not come until the end of the half leaving Geevagh winners by a 5 points margin. EASTER Camp TUBBERCURR­Y GAA club would like to thank everyone who came to their Easter Camp and a special word of thanks to all the coaches who helped out over the three days. All those coaches went through the Garda vetting process, did the child protection course and foundation course over the last few months and gave up holidays and study time to be there. We appreciate it so much. And not forgetting those that helped with the online registrati­on and registrati­on on the Monday. Thank you all so much. PRESENTATI­ON CONGRATULA­TIONS to all the players who received certs and medals on Sunday evening and thanks to everyone who helped out.

A Night At The OsKaRs

EASTERN HARPS

OUR senior men drew with Coolera/Strandhill in round 1 of the league on a score line of 0:10 a piece. They play away to Tubbercurr­y this Saturday at 6.30pm in round 2. Our junior men beat Shamrock Gaels on a score line of 2:12 to 2:06. They are at home to Tourlestra­ne Sunday at 2pm in Gurteen. Our senior ladies beat Drumcliffe last Saturday after a great performanc­e on a score line of 10:17 to 7:09. They have no match this week. Our Operation Transforma­tion raised €7,040 which goes straight towards the clubhouse developmen­t. We donated €250 towards Duchenne Ireland after our finale night last month. Special thanks to new members of organising committee, Dorothy Connolly, Catherine Cryan, Aneta Holub and Carmel Taheny. Also, event sponsors Tansey’s Centra, The Crossbar Bar & Restaurant and Lavin’s Menswear. Phase 2 of the clubhouse is now out for e-tender. Further informatio­n can be obtained from Michael Rowley. Best of luck to James O’Hara, Shawn O’Hara, Bryan Molloy, Alan Davey, Bryan O’Hanlon and Jake Stephenson in the All-Ireland Senior Colleges B Final in Croke Park on Saturday at 2pm in Croke Park with St. Nathy’s College, Ballaghade­rreen. Our healthy club committee are currently organising a series of community walks in various locations around county Sligo and neighbouri­ng counties over the coming months and we’d like to invite anybody interested to join us. Walks will be on Sundays at 10am. First walk scheduled for Sunday April 15th in union wood. We’ll have more details next week.

TOURLESTRA­NE

WE had a successful week in our club this week. Hats off to the senior ladies at pulling off yet another famous easter camp this year. 80 + wannabes of Tourlestra­ne GAA. Well done ladies and huge thank you to the parents for supporting it and of course to the great bunch of kids themselves who attended and made it happen! Hard luck girls in your semi final of the warm up league played on Saturday morning losing out to Geevagh. WE had a great attendance at another successful fundraisin­g Good Friday night table quiz in Banada hall. It showed what heart is in the club. Congratula­tions to the eventual winners who battled it out for the winning points and to our quizmaster Paddy Henry and to all who sponsored and and helped out in any way and took part.

OUR minor lads were away to Shamrock Gaels on Thursday night and were beaten by the stronger hosts. On Tuesday night It was a winning night for us! OUR u16 girls beat Shamrock Gaels by 2 points, on a huge scoreline at the final whistle of TOURLESTRA­NE 6-8(26) SHAMROCK Gaels 7-3(24) well done to all. Also our U16 boys beat Eastern Harps by 4 points at the pitch . Well done lads . SATURDAY night our Seniors played their first game of the league v Tubbercurr­y at the pitch under lights with a great crowd of supporters out to watch this good lively match which saw the teams swap leads a number of times throughout the 60 minutes but we came out on top at the final whistle and won on a scoreline of Tourlestra­ne 1/11 Tubbercurr­y 1/10. Well done to all.

OUR hurling game was off today and our Junior men lined out against Curry in a home game this afternoon but were unlucky and lost out by 3/4 to 2/12 when the full time whistle went. Happy Easter to all our club members from all in Tourlestra­ne Gaa!

CLOONACOOL

WELL done to our U14 team on a good victory over Owenmore Gaels, also our U16s who drew with Castleconn­or as well as our minors who recorded an excellent win over St. Marys at home last week. Our senior men got their league campaign off to a good start with a comprehens­ive victory over St. Marys in the division 3 league at the community park on Sunday last. We also welcome new selectors Aidan Kilcoyne and Kieran Moylan to the senior management team. Training continues during the week at the usual times. The next round of the league is on Sunday next when we are away to Curry at 2pm. Our U/12 teams are away to Ballymote/ Bunninadde­n on Tuesday evening next in Corran Park at 6.30 pm. The U/16s are away to Coolera/ Strandhill on Monday evening 2nd April at 6.30 pm. The minors are away to Castleconn­or on Friday evening 6th April next at 6.30 pm in the league. The best of luck is wished to the C/T Gaels ladies teams across all age groups as their new season begins. Well done to the Sligo senior mens team on retaining their league status. Sympathy is extended to the family, relatives and friends of the late Joseph Lang Sligo and formerly of Masshill who went to his eternal reward last week. May he rest in peace.

ST PATRICK’S

St Pats travel to play St Farnans on Saturday evening next April 7th @ 6.30pm. Players membership is now due it can be paid to Martin or Claire.

ST Pats are delighted to announce the return of our Nursery on Tuesday evenings in the Community Centre from 6.30pm till 7.15pm. The Nursery is open to all national school children up to U8’s.

ANNUAL Parish Clean Up. St Pats held their annual roadside cleanup on Good Friday and there was a great turnout of helper on the day. A large amount of rubbish was collected. The club thank all that gave of their time and hope the area can remain clean. A big thank you to Nessa Collery and all that provided food on the day. Anyone that still has batteries to donate to the club collection can contact Martin 086-1733572 to arrange to have them collected. WELL done to Lauren Cadden on her double success at The All Ireland indoor championsh­ip and setting two new games records. COULD all supporters please return their filled in Club Lotto tickets to a committee member as soon as possible. The Lotto is the principle fundraiser for the club every year and your support is as always greatly appreciate­d. ALL players must fill in their registrati­on form and return them to the relevant team manager. This is compulsory for all players and must be completed in order for players to play and compete in competitio­ns.
