Manor’s Muireann is named player of the tournament
Manorhamilton’s Muireann Devaney, who hit the soccer headlines with her superb equaliser against England in the recent Bob Docherty Cup, followed up her superb strike, by being named the competition’s Player of the Tournament.
England took the lead in the first half of the final through Lydia Hudson before Manor Rangers’ Muireann struck before the break.
Taking a touch to bring her away from her marker, Devaney created the space for herself to hit a wonderful shot on the turn, which flew past the England goalkeeper to bring Ireland back into the game.
Erin McLaughlin then went on to score a deserved winner for the girls in green. Ireland had qualified for the final courtesy of a 5-0 trouncing of the Northern Irish ‘B’ team. Also involved in the Irish set up was IT Sligo’s Emma Mullin who was the team’s Performance Analyst.
