POST OFFICE

Easkey post office will remain open but only on a one-year contract from now. An Post says the local community has to use the post office in order to secure its long term future. The current Postmaster is retiring and the Postmaster in Bonniconlo­n Ian Clarke to take over for a year.

EASKEY CASTLE FUN RUN

Easkey Castle Fun Run will be held on April 15 at 2 p.m. There will be three different distances to suit everyone a 5km, 10km and a 10 miler. There is a free T-shirt for the first 300 registered with lovely prizes, chip timing and refreshmen­ts afterwards. Register on the day in the community centre from 11.30 to 1.30 or register online via run Ireland or core timing websites or on Easkey Castle Fun Run Facebook page.

DARKNESS INTO LIGHT

Dromore West Darkness into Light will hold an official launch night on Friday, April 6, at 7.30 in the Still Bar. Find out more about Pieta House and the benefit of Darkness into Light for their services and also details of the event on May 12. You can register for the walk that night or sign up to help as a volunteer.

SAD DEATH

The death has taken place of Bernie Dunleavy, Easkey. His remains were removed from his residence to St James Church, Easkey, for Requiem Mass and burial took place in Roslea Cemetry. Sympathy is extended to his family and relatives.

CONGRATULA­TIONS

Congratula­tions to Yvonne Browne daughter of Gerry and Patricia, Pullaheene­y, Rathlee and Brendan Melody, Bonniconlo­n on their marriage in Rathlee Church on March 16. The reception was held in the Diamond Coast Hotel, Enniscrone.

The death has taken place of Michael Healy, Ballina and Dromore West. His remains were removed from Sweeney’s funeral home to the Church of Our Lady of Perpetual Succour, Dromore West for Requiem Mass and burial took place in Churchill Cemetry. Sympathy is extended to his family and relatives.

NO WINNER

There was no winner of the jackpot in the Easkey lotto draw on March 23. Numbers drawn were13 15 27 32. €25 winners: Colin Clarkson, Ann Cull, Lochlann and Senan, Maureen Flynn and Eamon O’Boyle. Promoter’s prize: Daphne Higgins. Next jackpot €2,100 and the draw will take place at the bingo in the community centre at 8.30 on Friday night.

SYMPATHY

Sympathy is extended to Mary Conway, Rathlee and Claire Lang, Dromore West and the other family members on the death of their mother Tess Hennigan, Currower, Attymass and their uncle Ted Hughes, Attymass post office.

SAFE PASS COURSE

FURNITURE SHOP

The St Vincent de Paul furniture shop in Ballina require large and small items of furniture, kitchen equipment, cutlery, ornaments, pictures, nursery items, cushions, curtains and bedding all in good condition. A furniture collection service is available. Call 096 72905.
