Real Tubber equipment damaged as storage container set on fire

-

AROUND €1,500 worth of equipment belonging to Real Tubber Football Club was damaged as a container was set on fire last weekend.

The incident happened on the night of Saturday, March 31st when the fire brigade was called to diffuse the blaze.

Nothing was taken from the container on the night, but items such as plastic cones, goals, a set of nets and more were destroyed in the fire.

It’s understood that most of the club’s equipment, such as gear, was in a different container.

It has been claimed that an individual, or a number of individuals, have previously tried to break into the container on a number of occasions, and this time finally managed to break open a door, before setting it alight.

“It’s very disappointing to see this happening. For a local club, €1,500 is a lot of money especially when you’re working hard all year to try and raise a few pound,” said Alan Henry, Real Tubber Chairman.
