Thousands visit for Scór finals
SLIGO will once again welcome close to 2000 GAA visitors as it plays host to the All Ireland Scór Sinsir finals on April 14th in the Knocknarea Arena at IT Sligo.
It follows on from a very successful Scór na nÓg for U17s held in February at the same venue.
Scór caters for the cultural aspirations of the GAA and has dancing, music, singing and dramatic based competitions. Keith Henry, Sligo GAA’s Irish & Cultural officer said: “Tickets for Scór na nÓg sold out and many had to be turned away at the door such was the interest.
“We’re delighted to have Frances Hanley of the St Farnan’s Club competing in the recitation/storytelling competition following her win at Connacht Level. Scór also has a table quiz and Coolera/Strandhill will represent the home county in the Clayton Hotel at 11am on Saturday.
“Frances will be com- peting at 3:35pm in IT Sligo on Saturday.
“But to avoid disappointment I’d encourage people to book their tick- ets asap”. The Scór na nÓg event was streamed live by TG4 on YouTube and was watched by 14,500 viewers across the world. The Scór Sinsir event which is for adults will also be streamed live by TG4. To book tickets for the Scór Sinsir Finals contact Sligo Scór Secretary Catherine Gallagher on 087-6494568 or email catherinegallagher7@ yahoo.ie.“Sligo GAA & Sligo Scór wish both Coolera/Strandhill and Frances Hanley the very best of luck and are delighted to host the finals,” Keith added.
