Coola’s huge final in IT Sligo today

-

THE day has arrived as Coola PPS meet Falcarragh in the FAI Schools Minor B Boys National Cup Final at 12:30pm in IT Sligo today. Coach Kevin McCarthy said everyone is looking forward to it. “We’re all set and thankfully we have no injuries. There is about half of the team that reached the first year final two years ago and we have four or five from second year too and a couple of first years. The excitement is building for sure especially since the Connacht final and the All-Ireland semi-final.” It’s a big achievement for Coola to have been in two National finals in the space of only two years and Kevin said soccer had only taken off again in the school in recent years. “We haven’t been at soccer only for the last three years or so, there was about ten years that it wasn’t being played here but we knew there was good talent coming through from the local soccer clubs and we decided to get it going again and we’re in the final now thankfully,” he said. Kevin said that not much is known about their opponents. “We don’t really know a lot, I think they have one player Blake McGarvey who is with Finn Harps. They beat Gweedore in the Ulster final 1-0 and got a bye in the semi-final. “Having the game at home is a massive advantage and there are two finals being played the A &B. There’s three buses going from the school so there should be a huge crowd as long now as we go and win it,” he added.
