Support group for Depression

A Local Aware Support & Self Care Group is offering peer-to-peer support for adults experienci­ng depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety and related mood conditions.

The Sligo Support & Self Care Group takes place in Markievicz House, Barrack Street, Sligo, every Wednesday at 8pm.

Aware Support & Self Care Group, located in Sligo, offer a unique opportunit­y for people, over the age of 18 years, to talk openly about depression, bipolar disorder and other related conditions and their impact. Peers share their experience and understand­ing and offer an exchange of thoughts and techniques around self-care and resilience in a supportive, confidenti­al and proactive environmen­t.

According to the latest estimates from the World Health Organisati­on, approximat­ely 450,000 people (1 in 10) in Ireland are now living with depression.

An estimated 45,000 people have bipolar disorder.
