SLIGO District Court was told that a 36-year-old man whom Judge Kevin Kilrane described as at high risk of reoffendin­g was taking steps to address his addictions.

Before the court was Keith Murray with an address at Oxfield Road, Drumcliffe.

He was charged with theft of a hair trimmer valued at €5 and a Gilette gift set valued at €9 from Heatons in Carrick-on-Shannon on December 23 2016.He was also charged with theft of 4 sim cards, shaving foam, razors and mouthwash from Tesco, Wine St, Sligo on October 27 th 2017.

Defending solicitor Mr Mark Mullaney said his client has taken steps to address his addictions. He said a letter from his GP indicated he is doing well.

The judge handed down 60 hours of Community Service in lieu of a two-month prison sentence.
