RECENT DEATHS
The death took place at the North West Hospice Sligo on March 31 of James Farrell, Rathmadder and formerly of Clondalkin Dublin. A quiet unassuming member of the community he will be sadly missed by all who knew him. His remains were removed on Easter Sunday evening to St Patrick’s Church, Gurteen and after Mass of the Resurrection on Monday burial took place in Gurteen Cemetery. Sincere sympathy is extended to his brothers Pat and William, his sister Lil Coyle, nephews, nieces relatives, neighbours and friends. May he rest in peace.
THE death took place suddenly on April 5 of Jim Mulrennan, Ballaghaderreen – father of Jacci Conlon, Gurteen. Sincere sympathy is extended to Jacci, Neil and family also to her mother and sisters, brothers and their families on their bereavement. May he rest in Peace.
THE death took place suddenly in Birmingham on April 6 of Philomena Donovan née Leydon a native of Cuilmore, Gurteen. Sincere sympathy is extended to her sister Geraldine O’Hara, Doon West and brother, John Joe Leydon, Cuilmore and to all the family and friends on their bereavement. May she rest in peace.
THE death has taken place in Leeds England on March 20 of Richard (Dick) Sherlock a native of Doon West Gurteen – Sincere sympathy is extended to his sister Ada, Doon West and Patricia, Monasteraden and all the family and friends on their bereavement. Funeral to come to Gurteen at a later date.
BINGO
Bingo is held every Friday night in Gurteen Hall at 8.30 p.m. The jackpot was won last Friday night and starts again at €1,600 on 45 calls – lotto raffle is now €800 – all proceeds are shared between Eastern Harps GAA Club and the hall committee for the upkeep of the hall.
COUNTRY FESTIVAL
‘My Old Hometown Gurteen’ Country Music Festival takes place over May bank holiday from Thursday with Tulla Ceili Band. Marquee at Teach Murray. Patrick Feeney – headline act. Volunteers needed to help out over weekend. If you can help please telephone 087 2644963. A successful w/e brings much local benefit.
