Small roads scheme funding

Over 21 rural roads in Counties Sligo and Leitrim will be upgraded in an investment of €531,000 under the Local Improvemen­t Scheme (LIS).

Deputy Tony McLoughlin said: “This scheme is a lifeline for people living in rural areas because it directly improves their access to and from their homes and farms.”

“Some €281,000 in funding has been allocated to Sligo County Council by my colleague Minister for Rural and Community Developmen­t, Michael Ring with €250,000 being allo- cated to Leitrim.”

The roads to be improved are and their electoral areas are: Sligo Strandhill - Doonamurra­y €14,106; Tubbercurr­y- Creeghassa­un €48,128; Tubbercurr­y- Carrownagl­eragh €45,000;

Sligo Drumcliffe - Augharow €27,387; Ballymote - Cuilmore, Gurteen €13,252; Tubbercurr­y - Montiagh, Curry €35,224; Ballymote -Derryknock­eran €14,283; Coolaney River Walk €34,940; Sligo Drumcliffe- Willowbroo­k, Calry €41,918; Ballymote - Carricknah­orna East €7,763.
