Search for mum of three as man is questioned

GARDAI ARREST A MAN IN CROZON AREA AFTER MUM (30) GOES MISSING

GARDAÍ are very concerned for the safety of a 30-year-old woman missing since Sunday morning.

Natalia Karaczyn, a native of Poland was last seen close to her home in Crozon around 6.30am on Sunday having gone out socialisin­g in Sligo the previous night. A man arrested by Gardaí on Sunday evening was held at Ballymote Garda Station where questionin­g began on Monday morning. Searches have been carried out by Gardaí at a number of locations while the Garda helicopter has also been utilised. Gardaí are seeking help in tracing the movements of the family’s silver Peugeot car on Sunday morning. The missing mum has been living in Sligo since 2014 having come from Gorzow, Wielkoplsk­i in North West Poland. She married Rafal Karaczyn in 2012. Her sister, Magdalena McMorrow, who has been living in Sligo for 12 years says her family are extremely worried. She reported her sister missing at 11.15 am on Sunday. Their mum was due in Sligo on Tuesday. Magdalena said: “We are hoping for the best. Natalyia has never done anything like this before and has always been very responsibl­e and would never leave her children like this. The Gardaí have been amazing, conducting searches and interviews almost immediatel­y.

CONCERNS are rising for the safety of a 30-year-old mother of three who was last seen returning to her rented family home in Crozon Park early on Sunday morning following a night out socialisin­g .A man was still being questioned over the disappeara­nce by Gardaí at Ballymote Garda Station as The Sligo Champion went to press on Monday evening.

He was arrested in Crozon on Sunday night some time after Natalia Karaczyn was reported missing by her sister, Magdalena McMorrow at 11.15 am.

Mrs Karaczyn, who has been living in Sligo since 2014 and married Rafal Karaczyn in 2012, went out on Saturday night socialisin­g.

It is believed she went to the cinema and later to the Garavogue bar and then on to a house party in the Crozon/Caltragh area.

Magdalena said she had seen CCTV footage from the Crozon Inn which shows her sister walking home around 6.30am and approximat­ely 50 metres from her home.

Magdalena told The Sligo Champion that she was very concerned and that Natalia had never done anything like this before.

“We are hoping for the best, that she will come home. She has never done this before and is very responsibl­e. She would always come home to her children,” said Magdalena.

She revealed that the CCTV showed a man walking with Natalia in the direction of her home and then going in opposite directions as they got closer to her home.

It is believed Gardaí have made contact with this man and he has been ruled out of enquiries into the mum’s disappeara­nce.

Natalia and her sister come from Gorzow, Wielkoplsk­i in North West Poland and their mother is expected to arrive in Sligo today.

Magdalena has been living in Sligo for the past 12 years. Natalia has worked previously in a MACE supermarke­t but at present was working in the home, looking after her three children whom she doted upon.

Magdalena said the response of the Gardaí had been “amazing” and they had organised searches and conducted enquiries and interviews almost immediatel­y.

“They took the situation seriously from the very beginning,” she said.

The Garda heli- copter joined in the searches for the missing woman on Monday morning.

The family home at Crozon Park re- mained sealed off on Monday and the cur- tains in all of its rooms were drawn.

A man was ar- rested by Gardaí on Sunday night but questionin­g did not take place until Monday after he exercised his right not be questioned late into the night or early hours of the morning.

The Sligo Champion understand­s that he was visited by his solicitor on Sunday and also on Monday and that he also had the services of an interprete­r.

Natalia is described as being 5’8” in height, slim build with green eyes and medium length straight blond hair. When last seen she was wearing a black lace body suit, black leather trousers, black jacket and black sandals with open toe.

In a statement Gardaí said they were concerned for Natalia’s safety and any persons who can assist with the investigat­ion is asked to contact Sligo Garda Station on 071 - 9157000, the Garda Confidenti­al line 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.

“We are also appealing for informatio­n in relation to the movements of a beige Peugeot estate car 308, partial registrati­on number 09 DL on Sunday morning in the Sligo area.”
