Jumped on man after running from Gardaí

A 35 year old man ran off from Gardaí and was later seen jumping on top of a man.

Ronan Devaney of Gelfof Drive, Cranmore was seen in a verbal dispute with a man at Stephen Street at 12.40am on March 26 th and while the men went their separate ways following the interventi­on of Gardaí he later started an argument with security staff at the Garavogue Bar.

Gardaí approached and Devaney ran off and he was then seen jumping on a man at Water Lane with Gardaí having to break up this fight. Devaney had one previous conviction for drunk driving.

Mr Tom MacSharry, solicitor (defending) said the parties were known to each other for a number of years. The defendant had an issue with alcohol and realised this. The father of two, who was a carer for his father, hadn’t drank since.

Judge Kilrane fined him €300.
