Speeding driver was on his way to court
A driver observed driving at an excessive speed and overtook two cars on a continuous white line on a bend was driving his brother to Sligo for a court appearance.
Father of three, Fabien Muntean (25) of Warren Grove, Boyle admitted a charge of careless driving at Whitehill near Castlebaldwin on April 5 th last at 9.40am.
Inspector Donal Sweeney said the driver failed to stop initially after a patrol car’s blue lights were activated but stopped eventually in Castlebaldwin.
His speed was not officially record but the Garda estimated it to be 190kph approximately.
Muntean has three previous convictions for no insurance.
Mr Eddie Henry, solicitor (defending) said he was covered on this occasion.
He was driving his brother to court in Sligo having been approached in a panic and drove excessively.
Judge Kevin Kilrane fined Muntean €300.
