Music lovers are spoilt for choice as theatre reveals stellar line-up

MUSIC lovers have a huge variety of concerts to choose from at the Hawk’s Well this summer.

Pat Coldrick performs at the theatre on Friday 4 th of May. Pat’s session work and classical appearance­s have earned him a reputation of being one of the finest and most versatile guitarist in Ireland.

Local band The Unwanted launch their new album Pay Day at the theatre on Thursday 10 th of May.

Seamie O’Dowd, Rick Epping and Cathy Jordan will offer a selection of musical gems including polkas from Sligo, fiddle tunes from the Appalachia­n Mountains and much more.

Kieran Quinn returns with his Teenage Theme Showcase #2 ‘ The Best of Irish’ on Saturday 12 th and Sunday 13th of May which features the best of Sligo’s up-andcoming talent performing iconic songs and tunes from our nation’s best composers and artists.

The theatre’s Super Sunday Trad Sessions for teenagers return with two sessions over the summer. The first on Sunday 13th of May from 12.30 to 2pm is led by Ted Kelly & Jean Christophe while on Sunday 24 th of June Hannah and Ned Kelly lead the session.

On Wednesday 16 th of May, Music Network presents Heidi Talbot, Breanndán O’Beaglaoich, John McCusker & Paul Meehan - a stellar line-up of musicians performing together.

The 60s Mod Musical SHOUT takes to the stage on Friday 18th of May presented by Verdant & Do R Die Production­s.

Sligo Academy of Music joins forces with a delectable selection of local choirs to present a feast of music and song at the Hawk’s Well in their Gala Concert on Sunday 20 th of May with all proceeds going to the current Academy fundraisin­g drive.

Christy Moore performs for two nights on Friday 8th and Saturday 9 th of June and both performanc­es are already sold out. From the 11 th to the 14 th of June Music Generation present a Sligo Gala Concerts at 5pm.

This summer you can catch a series of mid-week musical treats featuring traditiona­l music with the theatre’s special series of free lunchtime concerts which kick off on Thursday 14 th of June

Support your local lifeboat while enjoy- ing a night of internatio­nal songs and music with Songs for the Lifeboat on Saturday 16 th of June at 8pm.

You can see The Legends of American Country Music show at the theatre on Sunday 24 th of June which will transport you all the way to Nashville and back!

The popular ‘Sing for the hell of it’ evenings return over the summer with a Grease! Special to celebrate 40 years of the iconic film taking place on Thursday 28th of June.

The Cairde festival features a host of musical delights while a special fundraisin­g event takes place at Markree Castle on Wednesday 5 th of September. This late summer celebratio­n will feature an intimate performanc­e by The Whileaways in the stunning castle chapel.

There are also plenty of workshops, summer camps, talks, comedy, dance shows and events for children and all the family taking place at the theatre throughout the summer.
