Housing grant for the elderly

ALONE, the charity that supports older people to age at home, has welcomed an 11 per cent increase in funding for the Housing Adaptation Grant which was announced last week.

The news will be welcomed by Sligo County Council members who had been campaigning for more Housing Adaptation Grants at Council level in recent months.

CEO of Alone, Seán Moynihan, said: “From our work on the ground, we know that the demand for Housing Adaptation Grants is high and the system is complex. We will work with the Minister and Department of Housing over the coming years to bring this to a demand-led model, one which is accessible and straightforward.”

Alone provides support, Housing with support, befriending and campaigning services to over 1,000 older people nationwide each wee and 365 days a year. www.alone.ie
