Stole hoodie from store

19-YEAR-OLD man who stole a hoodie from Homeland at Deepwater Quay was given the benefit of the Probation Act.

Bernard Sweeney, whom the court heard, lives with his parents in Ballinrobe pleaded guilty to stealing the hoodie on May 21st worth €29.99.

He did not have any previous convictions, said defending solicitor, Mr Gerard McGovern.

He added that two other men who had been with the defendant had been dealt with by way of fines. Mr McGovern said the defendant had been recently married.
