RECENT DEATH

The death has taken place at her residence at Knockglass, Ballinamee­n on April 27 of Tina Finn (née O’Meara). She was mother of Andy Finn, Cluain Dara, Gurteen. A kind and friendly member of her community she will be very sadly missed by everyone who knew her.

Her remains reposed at her residence on Saturday and were removed to St Attracta’s Church, Ballinamee­n on Sunday afternoon and after the Funeral Mass burial took place in the adjoining cemetery.

Sympathy is extended to her husband Joe, her son Andy – wife Brenda and family Tara, Stephen and Shannon, Gurteen – her daughters Louise and Angela, son Paul and their families and all her many relatives and friends. May she rest in peace.

FIRST COMMUNION

Thirteen children from Carn NS, Gurteen are preparing for their First Holy Communion day. It will be on next Sunday, May 13, at the 11.30 a.m. Mass. The Sacrament of Confirmati­on in Gurteen will be held on Saturday, May 26, at 11 a.m.

GOLDEN WEDDING

Congratula­tions and good wishes to Maureen and Anne Davey, who were married in Gurteen Church on April 27, 1968. Maureen married Patrick J McDonagh, Kilfree and Anne married Charles Conlon, Ballisodar­e.

BINGO

Bingo is held every Friday night in Gurteen Hall at 8.30 p.m. The jackpo0t is now €1,900 on 46 calls – €300 lotto raffle – and good prizemoney – all proceeds are shared between Eastern Harps GAA Club and the hall committee for the upkeep of the hall.

COLEMAN ARCHIVE LAUNCH

The Coleman Music Centre, Gurteen recently launched their latest CD for the Coleman Archive titled ‘The Past is Another Tune’, produced by Gregory Daly. This is the fourth CD collection in a series of archive recordings from the Coleman Heritage Centre having the general title THE COLEMAN ARCHIVE the CD’S are available at the Coleman shop – phone 071 9182599.

NEW CD LAUNCH

Declan Folan will launch his new traditiona­l fiddle CD on Saturday, May 12, at 8.30 p.m. in the Coleman Centre, Gurteen. Declan will be playing tunes associated with this region. He will be joined on stage by PJ Hernon (Accordion), Damien Stenson (flute), Shane McGowan (guitar), Junior Davey (Bodhrán) and many more. This concert is a must for traditiona­l music lovers.
