PEAKED CAPS AND SCORCHING SUN FOR MAY BANK HOLIDAY RACES

-

THE going may have been ‘yielding to soft’ but the style was certainly hardcore ‘gangsta’ at the Sligo Races on Sunday.

For the first meet of the season, the races chose a ‘Peaky Blinders’ theme for punters, after the British TV series of the same name, set in 1920s Birmingham.

Thousands of racegoers didn’t disappoint and turned up in fabulous outfits.

The first race was won by hot favourite Sal- saretta for Willie Mullins.

The 2.15pm Taylor Construction & Civil Works Hurdle Winner was Msassa. Lord Erskine won the 2.45pm Strandhill Caravan Park Handicap Hurdle. Causey Arch won the 3.20pm Kennedys Bar Novice Hurdle. Sally Park won the 3.55pm TheAdareManor Maiden Hurdle. Humm Baby came home first in the 4.30pm, the Harrington Concrete and Quarries Handicap Hurdle. The Kevin Egan Cars Race was won by Red Menace.
