Champion up for media award

THE Sligo Champion has been shortlisted for Best News Series in the 2018 Local Ireland/National Lottery Media Awards.

The ‘Country Matters’ series was an eight part series published between February and April last year.

Reporter Sorcha Crowley spoke to communities in rural Sligo, from Dromore West to Gurteen and Geevagh to Grange to find out if their needs were being met by Government policy makers.

The Local Ireland/National Lottery Media Award winners will be announced at a Gala ceremony in Athlone on May 24 th.
